It's definitely worth it for backpackers, as the name suggests, and it's very close to Malioboro. The rooms are clean, tidy, and smell good, with coffee and tea dispensers even outside. The staff are friendly, the towels are clean, toiletries are provided, and it's quiet.

The hotel staff helped check me in and carried my luggage to my room, even though it was on the third floor. Even though I arrived at 2:00 a.m., I highly recommend this accommodation. Awesome!

I stayed at Setia Backpacker for a few days and it was really comfortable for me. The hotel felt like home, the rooms were clean and comfortable, and the staff were all like family (especially Mbak Dora, because I only know her name 😅) 👍. Try checking in 30 minutes early and get help from the morning staff, thank God it worked. In the afternoon, I went straight to Malioboro Street, because it's quite close to the hotel, whether you choose to go via Jl. Pasar Kembang or Jl. Sosrowijayan, both are available. Around the hotel in Gang II, the food is delicious, in the morning there's gudeg, in the evening there's chicken satay. If you're confused about what to eat, just contact Mbak Dora, she can help. Setia Backpacker also has several motorbikes for rent, perfect if you want to explore Yogyakarta on a budget. Thankfully, there were no problems at all during my stay here. If I have time to go to Yogyakarta, I'll stay at Setia Backpacker again 👍.

The staff is friendly and helpful. I happened to have a problem with my child's vehicle in Yogyakarta. Everyone was friendly, caring, and attentive. Thank you.

Solid budget option with minor drawbacks, ideal for active travelers. We stayed at Setia Backpacker Hostel in Yogyakarta as a family of four in a 4-bed room. If you are looking for an affordable place to sleep while exploring the city all day, it gets the job done, though you should keep a few things in mind. Location: Excellent position. The train station, supermarkets, and plenty of restaurants are all within walking distance. Beds & Cleanliness: Cleanliness aligns with local Indonesian standards rather than Western ones—expect dust under and behind the beds. However, the bedding was clean, and we slept well. Note that the bathroom had a strong sewage smell due to an unsealed drain. Facilities & Electricity: Good, reliable Wi-Fi. Occasional power outages occur, and the AC cannot run simultaneously with lights or other appliances without tripping the breaker. There is no kitchen, but a shared fridge is available. Noise & Seating Area: The common seating area was right outside our room. Due to thin walls, it was quite noisy at times, and smoke from guests smoking outside drifted directly into our room. Service: Friendly staff. However, a clearer check-in orientation is needed: amenities like towels, toiletries, and drinking water were stored inside the lockers, which we only discovered on our checkout day. Verdict: Great location and very budget-friendly for simple overnight stays, provided you manage expectations regarding cleanliness, noise, and basic amenities.

The location is in an alley, with a pristine environment, close to Yogyakarta Tugu Station and Malioboro Street. The room is quiet because motorists are not allowed to start their motorbikes inside the alley. I only used a towel for my toiletries, and I didn't realize there was soap and a toothbrush because I brought my own. Overall, for under 200,000 Rupiah, it's okay. It's located in an alley, then another alley.
