Hotel Ballaro is gorgeous; walking up the grand staircase into the hotel area almost feels like you could be a background character in Romeo and Juliet. Unfortunately, our room wasn't ready on our arrival, despite having sent our flight information ahead of time, and we were missed receiving the instructions on how to actually enter the building once we found it, but once that was sorted out, we had a lovely stay.

The hotel's exterior is unassuming, with not much clear signage, but the inside courtyard is nice. The rooms were large and clean, and the external separate bathroom was nicely appointed. For a budget stay, I definitely recommend.

Very basic but clean and safe and comfortable without frills. Staff was friendly, breakfast was a nice bonus and the cool old royal palace was definitely interesting. Location is easy, perhaps be cautious at night but otherwise didn’t feel unsafe.

Hotel is a convenient 6 minute walk from the train / bus station. The entrance was difficult to find at first, apple maps said it was around the corner from where it actually was. The staff were super friendly and very helpful. The room and bathroom were clean. Downside: you can hear everything. The rooms are not soundproof as advertised. We could hear people talking in the hallway, the showers in the other rooms, and people entering and exiting the hotel. Other than this, it was an enjoyable stay.

Not my fav hotel and one which has a very odd owner see Google owner replies and the rooms are ok but I would not recommend more than one night /it is near the bus station and trains but the area around it is quite run down / overall I feel u can find better value elsewhere and I won't be back

We arrived in the evening and had a somewhat difficult time finding the entrance as there is no evident sign. There are many stairs and no lift, so travel light. The room was spare but clean and had a wonderful bed and the old palazzo was very quiet. It was all very clean and the breakfast was good and in a most picturesque room.

Within walking distance to some monuments. There's a supermarket nearby. Clean. Housekeeping threw away something i set aside (along with some other items) on the table. Make sure you keep any items away, unreachable. Otherwise, it might get thrown away. Comfortable bed. Quiet at night. Has heat + air conditioning. Breakfast is included & is good. Pastries, yogurt, some fresh fruits, some local. Shower + sink have good water pressure + drainage. Temperature was good except when it malfunctioned. Room has a mini fridge. The parking lot looks a bit dark at night, but its inside the secured area. I use the flashlight from my mobile phone for better lighting. Note there is no elevator to get to the hotel (starting from the 2nd floor, + no elevator inside the hotel. Staff are helpful. Front desk is not 24/7. The hot water system malfunctioned at night, this was fixed in the morning when staff arrived. Not sure what standard arrangements are possible for something like this after hours, but, it would be a bonus if staff can address these when they happen/as needed. Thabk you for the comfortable stay🙏

Great spot. Once you get inside, you’re greeted by an impressive early modern courtyard, with a set of stairs that are in themselves inspiring. As far as the hotel itself goes, a mere floor of a much grander building, everything is modern and efficient. The breakfast was typical Italian fare, with coffee, juice, fruit, and an excellent selection of pastries and jams. While a bit of a trek from the port, the hotel is a mere fall away from the train station, connecting you to the rest of Italy and Europe. If there were a downside, it’s a bit anonymous, with no central lounge or place for staff and travellers to interact.

The hotel is located in an old Palazzo, there are stairs to go up to access the entrance, the hotel itself is very bland and feels like a museum, the rooms are very basic and a little old. The street noise can be quite loud but does get quiet between midnight and 5 am. You can hear everything from your room including other guests. Staff are very nice and accommodating, breakfast is basic but good, location seems a little rough around the edges but it is actually quite well situated and we felt safe the entire time we were there. If you can deal with lack of sleep and basic amenities this hotel is perfect for your stay in Palermo.

The property is indeed unique- a very modern and nicely fitted out hotel, hidden away in a crumbling atmospheric palazzo. My bed was comfortable, my water hot, my sockets all working. It fely very safe, breakfast was nice, the staff excptional. Very close to the station, but on a main street in the old city. Only disadvantage: no lift. So for people who can't do stairs, it's ill advised. I loved the hotel and would certainly choose it again.

Room was basic but clean, bed was comfy. No room service or food service other than breakfast, no flexibility around earlier breakfast times as food is brought in. A safe place to sleep rather than a hotel. Staff very friendly.

We arrived in Palermo at night. Being unsure of where we needed to go, we followed our map app until we found the site. We were confused, tired, and I'm sorry to say a bit grumpy. We didn't understand (or remember) this hotel was inside a structure built in the 1300's. I apologized for my rudeness upon first arriving (and after a good night's sleep). This hotel was very good. I recommend it to travelers providing they understand it isn't a Hilton; it's a historical building in a city thousands of years old. It is close to the train station and several beautiful churches and good food!

This hotel is 18th century mansion that is falling apart. The bathroom smelled of sewage. The shower was just a curtain on the side so taking a shower meant flooding the bathroom. The toilet did not flush without manually doing so inside the tank. The bed was super hard! My advise is stay away from this place
