Hotel Rex

Great location near the train station. Small rooms, but clean and great breakfast. No hooks or places to hang things in the room. Gets a good amount of street noise till midnight or later, but it does quiet down.

The hotel is in a great location, the staff is very nice, and the breakfast is good. But make sure you do not get a room facing the street. There is a bar right across the street with loud people that closes at 2am, so I did not get any sleep. The hotel was nice enough to move me for the second night, but that first night was horrible. The beds are also not the most comfortable, but decent.

Easy access from the Florence train station and easy access to the main attractions. Room was small and with poor air conditioning.

Horrible El edificio necesita que lo arreglen La primera habitación que nos asignaron terriblemente fea ! Se ve que es una habitación improvisada ! Sin embargo el Staff y el personal hicieron su mejor esfuerzo para que nos sintiéramos bien y nos cambiaron para otra habitación. El mobiliario es viejo y no esta en buen estado ! El área asignado para desayuno, nada cómodo ! No lo recomiendo ! Hay que reconocer que el personal y el staff muy atentos ! Buena ubicación. Pero Jamás me volvería a quedar o recomendar por la calidad de las instalaciones

Location was excellent, only 5 minute walk from station & main attractions. While the property is quite shabby looking, the room was clean. Breakfast was adequate with a good choice for a continental selection. The bed was quite hard & the bathroom very small. However, for the price & location could not complain too much. Staff was friendly & helpful.

The staff here are great, I mentioned that I would be leaving in the middle of the night and they surprised me with a lunch bag for my trip because I was going to miss breakfast.

I don’t like giving negative reviews so positives first. Location in central Florence excellent & close to the station. Staff were friendly. Large comfy bed. Good continental breakfast but time available could be extended. Unfortunately, none of the above make up for possibly the worst room I have stayed in, in the last 30 years. Room small, dark & shabby with paint peeling from the walls & scruffy little built in wardrobe. En-suite tiny & very tired. En suite door was hanging dangerously by the upper hinge only, as the lower one had rusted & broken away from the rotten door post. The raincan shower head was broken so very difficult to direct the flow of water in order to have a decent shower. No plug in the sink. No instructions for aircon and couldn’t get it to work, despite using online user manual. The electric went off 3 times during our 4 day stay and we had to pack in the dark. We did consider asking for another room but found out online that the hotel was fully booked. I wouldn’t recommend this hotel to anyone, very shoddy and poor value for money. The owners will probably say we should have flagged up the problems but it is clear the damage to the en-suite door, and shower head are not new and they must be aware of them. They just choose not to fix them as they know they’ll always have custom. I actually found a 10 cm piece of door frame down the plug hole & the shower rail & curtain on the floor after maid had been. Smoke alarm was also disconnected in a drawer!

The negatives far outweigh the positives of this hotel. It is a great location and the staff could not have been nicer. This is a very tired hotel and very uncomfortable. The carpets are extremely worn and the rooms were clean, but the mosquitoes were relentless. I think the cleaners would leave the Window open when they were cleaning because we were swatting them every night. I do not recommend this hotel.

Not cleaned , there were mosquitos and shower curtains were too short to protect water from shower head. It was terrible experience to stay in this hotel.

Excellent property! Profesional staff

The hotel was ideally situated to walk around the center of Florence. It was also only a 5 minute walk with luggage to the train station. The breakfast was good but it only started at 8am. They'd do better opening it at 7:30. The hotel was looking a bit shabby in need of some upkeep. Our room was also full of mosquitos despite no windows being open. For the price, it was fine.

Need an upgrade a little old hotel!!!!

El hotel tiene excelente ubicación; la habitacion esta en buenas condiciones, sin embargo la cama esta muy dura, como si estuvieras acostado en el piso, ademas que es muy ruidoso (no se si estaban arreglando algo porque se escuchaban golpes de martillo y taladro) no pudimos dormir bien los dias que estuvimos; el horario del desayuno es muy corto de 8 am a 9:30 am y el que atiende tiene mala actitud, contesta muy feo a los comensales; solo lo recomendaria por la ubicacion

It is well-located, within walking distance of the train station, and other points of interest. There are many options for shopping, dinner, groceries, laundry, and everything you need. The facilities are old and basic, but they are of good value for a short stay for bead and breakfast.
