The Starhotel Excelsior is a very deserving 4 star hotel.
I booked 3 rooms for 4 nights inc breakfast for my family and I for a short holiday and after much research I booked this hotel and I’m so glad I did. It has an elegant reception with lovely welcoming staff. The rooms are quite even though the train station was across the road and they were all spacious with comfortable beds and decent sized bathrooms. The only downside was the shower glass was too small and water was going all over the floor and onto the wooden door which is bowing, guessing it happens all the time. My husband pulled the alarm cord too 🤣 thinking it was the extraction fan and needed maintenance to come and reset it.
The breakfast was excellent with plenty to choose from and help yourself to coffee / cappuccino machines. One morning I was not well and the staff offered to bring some breakfast to my room, instead my husband opted for a takeaway bag with cakes, biscuits, coffee and a cheese toastie. This was very kind.
The location is about a 20 minute walk to the main square centre ( beautiful) and 2 minutes to the bus / central train station. Very convenient as we traveled to Verona, Modena and Rimini and beyond.

I stayed here after finishing a cruise from Ravenna and it was great. The location was perfect for transfers to and from the cruise port and also the airport. The room was very clean with plenty of space and the service was excellent. If I am ever returning to Bologna or taking another cruise from Ravenna I will be returning to this hotel.

Beautiful hotel directly across from the train station but also walking distance of all the tourist attractions. Staff are so friendly and helpful. We arrived on a morning train, our luggage was tagged and taken to our room for us. Highly recommend this hotel.

This is a beautiful, classy hotel where every detail is carefully thought out. The bedding is of superior quality as are the towels and toiletries. It's quiet and tastefully decorated. The in room snacks are also delicious. A perfect stay.

Great place, central to all monuments, cafes and shopping centres. Only thing, attention to detail when cleaning rooms and restocking supplies such as toilet paper, water, tea bags and cups as we had to ask for them but should be expected for a 4 star hotel. Other than that, it was amazing.

Large room with all essential amenities. Everything in-room worked properly, from cold/hot water, climate control, toilet/bidet. Walk-in closet also really convenient. Buffet breakfast was incredible with variety of fresh food & drink options. Location was convenient being across the street from the main train terminal.

Fantastic hotel, clean, classy yet right across from train station; lots of places to eat around the hotel. Room was spacious for 3 of us, bathroom was nice, the shower has half door so it can get messy unless you stand right under it. Perhaps a shower curtain or a door on it will be great. Overall we loved our stay at this hotel.
