Everything is fantastic, hard to get any better hotel with this reasonable price. The service is thoughtful and the house is very clean. Their public bathroom is somehow simple but it's enough. One more thing, they have 3 hotels in Nara, don't just trust google, it will lead you to a very far place.

The room is spacious and we love the Japanese style so much. So clean! However it would be perfect if the windows have blackout curtains or sample curtains. The Japanese paper curtains really can’t block the sunlight during morning. We woke up early by the sunlight.

Hotel is a short distance walk from Nara station and well connected with buses to major attractions. Check in was smooth as staff speak English. Room is spacious however it looks a little old. The bed was hard (as compared to western hotels) and it seems consistent with Japanese hotels however it was too hard for me to sleep well. Breakfast was prefect with both western and japanese selections, in fact it tastes better than 5-star international hotels in my view. I see why this hotel is so popular with locals.

The hotel is located close to the station and an easy 10 minute walk to the closest temple. The hotel offers a buffet breakfast, lunch and dinner in its restaurant on the 2nd floor. and is located near the main shopping street which has a range of shops and restaurants. The room was large with a couch and small table and chair as well as a writing desk and chair and small fridge. There was an excellent supermarket next to the station which enabled us to buy food for breakfasts in our hotel room accompanied by a choice of teas(teabags) provided daily by the hotel.

If you are happy with sleeping on a futon, and having the convenience of using your space as bedroom or living space, I would recommend this hotel. It is a little tired but very clean in the rooms, close to station and easy to walk to Nara's sights. Has character, charm and Japanese authenticity.

When we arrived at the hotel, we had an air-conditioning problem (it was a stinking hot day, 29C at that time!!). The staff were very kind and professional. They gave us another room where the air conditioning was working AND we also kept the original room as were a party of three, so that we did not need to carry everything to the new room. We really liked the ground floor lobby as it had a traditional Japanese atmosphere. The restaurant had good food and sake but the service wasn't as good as that provided by the hotel staff. All in all it was a good place to stay with a mix of Japanese and Western style rooms.

We stayed for one night while visiting a friend in Nara. The lobby is lovely and the staff was friendly. The single public bath in the basement is adequate but not unique and separated for men and women by time as there is only one bath. Of note there is no bathing time for men in the morning. You need to bring your towels from your room to the bath. The two private family baths are lovely, reservations are needed. The hallways are in great need of refurbishing. The hallway carpet is heavily stained and worn. The painted trim is heavily chipped and dinged. The room was spacious for a Japanese hotel though, while very clean, was also rundown with many dents, dings in the walls and torn paper in the doors with only rudimentary repairs done to the damage. The en suite bathroom was small but adequate. One is expected to pull the bedding from the closet to assemble their own bed on the tatami but the bedding was clean and comfortable. The Wifi was strong and speedy. The AC was very effective on a very hot day. The hotel was a good value as one of the less expensive options in Nara; the family bath added greatly to the value. If only the hallway carpet and damaged trim and walls were attended to it would be an excellent option but as it is one should be prepared for the very poor appearance of the hallway carpet and damaged walls. The view from the window was of a neighboring apartment building (i.e. no view). We did not eat in the hotel so cannot comment.

Can't check in until after 3 but this is common in Japan. Checked in our bags and left to go sightseeing and they put them in our room when we came back. Had to make our own tatami beds (other hotels did that for us) and they only have one public bath (times are split for men and women to take turns) but overall helpful friendly service and decent hotel in a good location with a good price.

If you are happy with sleeping on a futon, and having the convenience of using your space as bedroom or living space, I would recommend this hotel. It is a little tired but very clean in the rooms, close to station and easy to walk to Nara's sights. Has character, charm and Japanese authenticity.

Hotel is on the main east-west road in Nara, 10 mins from Kintetsu and 5 mins walk from JR line station. Room was large and clean. Breakfast buffet was ok -plenty of choice. Staff were helpful and internet access was good.
