Tokyu Stay Monzen Nakacho Tokyo

Don’t get scammed booking here. They will charge you an extra 3,000 yen per night when you check in because the Expedia booking doesn’t match their “occupancy rules”. I had to pay 15,000 yen extra when I checked in because my booking said (at the time of booking) that I had 2 people, but when I got to the hotel they said I actually had to pay extra per night to have a second person. This charge was not disclosed by Expedia, and it happened to 3 other couples during my few night stay (I watched the other couples try to check in and saw them get surprised with the extra fee in the lobby) and I am still fighting customer support about it. If I knew that extra charge at the time of booking I wouldn’t have reserved it (probably none of us would have). That’s over $100 USD in surprise charges at the time of check in. The facilities are old anyway as some other reviews mentioned.

The breakfast was inadequate and there were few choices. We liked the area around the hotel, though, and in general, it was a good value for the money.

Convenient location; washer/dryer in room is a game changer.

The room is big enough for 5 of us. The washer/dryer is an extra bonus, you don’t have to bring a lot of clothes with this facility.

Loved this hotel , the biggest room I have stayed yet in Japan. Location is also great very near to the station , lots of restaurants and convenience stores .They don't do room make up but that's okay. They come and change your towels and trash

A well appointed room with a comfortable bed located near two rail stations was exactly what I needed for my last two nights in Japan. Staff was friendly and gracious. I left my bag at the front desk and it was delivered to my room for me before I checked in. I also received a gift for cherry blossom season. I would stay again, thanks!

I had a great stay here! It's just a quick walk to Metro/Toei lines that will take you to mostly anywhere in Tokyo. The staff were very kind and helpful. There's great food within steps of the hotel and if you're lucky enough to be around in cherry blossom season the streets are goreous. The rooms do show their age and the room felt a little humid on the rainy days, but overall it's a great stay for a good price.

The staff made check in and check out very seamless. The hotel is about a 5min walk to the closest train station and about a 10 min walk to the other train station. Very centralized and convenient for food, transportation and shopping. Right around the corner from the hotel was a family mart and on the main roads there were plenty of places to eat and buy groceries and appliances (if needed). All the staff were very warm and welcoming!

Loved staying here! Staff were very friendly and accommodating. The rooms were clean and comfortable. Will definitely come back someday!

Near station

Staff is very friendly and helpful. The breakfast, unlike other business type hotels, was all frozen food which you microwave in your room. Only a couple breakfast eateries near by that's open in the morning hours. However, lots of eating options for later hours. Stayed in the older hotel section which could use some updating.

Good location

Very good hotel. I would definitely stay again. The staff is helpful and courteous. Location is good, just 3 stops from Tokyo station. The neighbourhood is nice, with lots of cafes and izakayas. It feels calm!

Nice place close to station, could use a little wall cleaning.

I didn't know this area very well before this trip, but it is actually a great location. Tons of local and less touristy restaurants and bars within walking distance. The hotel is also very close to a train station so you can get to other parts of Tokyo pretty easily. As the hotel itself, it's pretty basic but gets the job done. Clean room and professional staff.

The staff were INCREDIBLE! So kind and accommodating during my and my brother's two week stay. Super close to the train line, which was a huge bonus when doing the typical touristy things around Tokyo. Local food options were great, as was the accessibility to convenience stores and pharmacies. Rooms and facilities were clean, with an easily accessible elevator and the like. Staff came by three times during my stay to do a full clean, and they did a fantastic job. Ran into one issue where I lost my key, and replacing it was 2000 yen. You do get it back if you find the key later, otherwise you're stuck. If I had ANY complaints, it would be with the included washer and dryer. It is not very intuitive at all, despite some of the English instructions. I wish there was more thorough information on this, even if it was in Japanese. I ran into some trouble at the start of my stay with the filter at the bottom of the unit being loose, and the obscure error code it screams at you didn't help much. However, research and some fiddling got it up and working. Out of all the complaints I could have, this is incredibly minor and not the hotel's fault. It just isn't very foreigner friendly, but it was worth noting if you have limited experience with foreign appliances! (RE trains: If you need an elevator to get to and from the closest station, use exit 2! It's right across the street from exit 1, which is closest to the hotel.) Overall, I would absolutely stay here again!
