George Town is a culturally and historically rich place, and staying in Kelantan House offers you the opportunity to experience what life was like in Penang in the 18th and 19th centuries. The location is also quiet even if it's right in the middle of the city. Will definitely stay here again.

This hotel is good for those who want to feel the atmosphere of the life in the old shophouse. I felt like I’m having a home stay. The location is not convenient to access to the historical sightseeing area, but you can use Grab.

It's walking to many nice food. The staffs are very nice and helpful. Should be nice and peaceful during off peak, it's probably more noisy if all rooms are taken up as the place is mostly wood, so walking around will create some noise. Overall, Im very happy staying at Kelantan House.

Great value and extremely friendly and helpful staff. You can walk to the tourist area or there's a bus stop right outside. Nice tea/coffee/snacks all day long. The only downside is having to bring your key every time you want to use the bathroom.

Had booked another hotel but had to relocate due to some problems there. Arrived at its doors within 30 minutes of booking, and the staff have already prepared my room for me. They were super helpful and gave me lots of useful tips about where to go in Penang. There is also biscuits, tea and coffee laid out in the courtyard common area for free consumption. The hotel itself is a delightful little heritage building with only 10 rooms. The one deterrent is some of the rooms do not have en-suite bathrooms, but instead there are stand-alone bathrooms down the corridor. It is not too inconvenient though, and you are the only one who has the key to the bathroom so it's quite private. The location of the hotel is also great, just off the main tourist area of Georgetown, but within easy walking distance to everything. Would definitely stay here again!

Lovely settings in an old Chinese house. It feels more like a private house than a hotel. Superior rooms don't have attached bathrooms though so watch when you book. I had to upgrade my room on arrival as the description on Expedia is not accurate and doesn't mention it. Otherwise, brilliant location walking distance from the centre (5min) and very quiet area.

It's like staying in a well to do relative's house which has been refurbished and updated. Have your mental faculties and five senses stimulated as all around are lovely bits of furniture and rescued or recycled objects put to innovative use. If you can't climb stairs to the second floor ask for one of three ground floor rooms. Quirky and not for those who want the usual highrise type hotel. You can't help bumping into other guests and staff now and then. No en suite but personal bathroom and toilet with your own key at the rear for each room. Lovely small central courtyard like a little oasis of peace and calm, make your Boh tea or instant coffee with grape or strawberry biscuits to sit at the KopiTiam table and chairs to relax a while. The fridge there has Spritzer water and beer to purchase with space to put your own stuff for breakfast or food. No cooking facilities but you would want to eat out in Penang. The Moody Cow cafe just down the road facing the hotel, turn right and turn left, has "Durian Madness" cake, an enormous slice enough for three costing 42 ringgit and gigantic 10' chocolate cookies for 12 ringgit, a must go to cafe.

Before going to Penang, I would like to find a place in the city center and in a traditional house. Kelantan was exactly what I was looking for, in the city center, affordable. We were there in the low season, so we nearly have the whole hotel for our own and was very quiet. The toilet was situated outside the bedroom, but was privates (not a public toilet, like some said in their remark). One thing should be noted that if you want an upstairs room with windows. you have to accept the single beds, rather than a double bed bedroom, and with a window in the salon and courtyard. Staffs were very friendly, and suggested us places to visit. The hotel was very beautiful even according to a local when we showed them our restaurant. I would stay in the same place if I go back to Penang again.
