What Guests Say About Their Stay

From the moment we stepped into The Grand Hotel, it felt as though we’ve entered a world of elegance, comfort, and unparalleled hospitality. Every detail, from the grand architecture to the warm smiles of the staff, exuded a sense of refined luxury. The room was nothing short of spectacular—a perfect balance of classic and historic charm! With breathtaking views from the balcony, and meticulous attention to detail made it feel so dreamy. And waking up to the soft glow of sunrise streaming through those balcony sliding windows was a moment of pure joy. What truly sets The Grand Hotel apart, however, is the service. Every staff member went above and beyond to ensure our stay was flawless. Their genuine kindness and attentiveness made us feel not just like a guest but truly at home. The dining experience was another highlight—each meal was a masterpiece, blending exquisite flavours with artistic presentation. The overall hotel’s ambiance, whether in the elegant dining area and the indoor swimming pool was stunningly pleasing. Staying at The Grand Hotel Gozo, was more than just a getaway; it was an experience of beauty, comfort, and heartfelt hospitality. It’s a place where memories are made and where guests leave with a sense of gratitude and longing to return. I cannot recommend it highly enough and look forward to my next visit!

The hotel is within walking distance of the Gozo to Malta ferry port (7 minutes downhill). It is very clean and we were welcomed with a glass of juice on arrival at reception. All the staff were very friendly, helpful and professional. The room was stunning and the only criticism was that there were only 2 teabags and 2 sachets of sugar, but we managed to obtain extras and milk from the bar. Breakfast was extremely busy (0930) and we had aa little wait to be seated. The selection on offer was very good with fruit, cold meats, croissants, bread and cooked items of eggs, bacon, sausage, potatoes, tomatoes and beans. All in all a super hotel and would definitely stay again.

Location and view were great. Renovating, so facility was compromised. Bathtub jets did not work and tub leaked and flooded bathroom floor. Wanted to call for service help to clean up, but phone did not work. Novice staff at front desk. Overall was good, but issues detracted from to rating.

Convenient location and stunning views. Hotel decor is a little tired and dated but very comfortable and clean. Most staff were friendly and helpful although the bar/waiting team were a bit sullen. As usual for off season there was noise from building work on the hotel but it didn’t bother us too much. However if rumoured plans to demolish part of the hotel and build apartments go ahead it will become a “no go “ area for at least a couple of years. I hope they don’t do that as it is a pleasant place to stay as it is.

Our room was large and clean, a mirror was cracked but we had a nice balcony. The room was extremely hot. We put on the air conditioning. It did not work. It came up with a fault. We tried to phone down to reception but neither of the phones in the room worked! On walking all the way back to reception we were told that we couldn’t change rooms that night but to ask the next morning. We were given a fan but ended up having to sleep with the balcony doors open. It was quite noisy. The next morning I went to reception again. They asked me to return later to see if we could change rooms. In fact we returned several times, each time having to explain the whole problem over again. This was not how I wanted to spend the first day of my holiday. Eventually we were offered a change of room to a lower grade room but they would also give us half board for 2 nights. We looked at the room. It was in the old part of the hotel and very dated and small - we declined. Later that day we were shown a similar room to ours. When we went to see it, it was also very hot. I had enough by then and stayed in our room. The view from the room was nice but spoiled by building construction under our balcony. Not good when you have to sleep with the door open! I had an Expedia credit towards a spa treatment. Twice I went during opening hours and the spa was shut. The 3rd time I was told a therapist would not be in until Friday (after we had left!) so I couldn’t use it. Staff inexperience & apathetic.

Nice room looking out over the pool. Decent breakfast but grapes would be nice. Last time we visited (Mar 2025) The Grand scored 2/5 so big improvement to 4/5. Special praise to Colin a female housekeeper on the 4th floor Loose floor tiles in the toilet by the outdoor swimming pool could be a hazard.

This is a nice hotel, albeit a bit faded and in need of renovation. Therein lies the problem: renovation work began early in the morning and the resultant noise meant that when my wife was ill and had to stay in the room, she could not rest. Similarly, the noise precluded using the lovely outdoor pool. When we complained, we were moved to a nice room in another part of the hotel, but an upgrade at no extra cost would have been a nice touch by way of recompense! The rooms were nice and spacious, however, and the staff were lovely, especially those serving at breakfast (a big nod to Daniella and Jerico!). Breakfast options got a bit boring after two weeks as did the evening meal choices (portions notably less generous than anywhere else we ate!). The location is, however, marvellous and it was a great base from which to explore the island and Malta!

The Grand Harbour Hotel is in a wonderful location overlooking the harbour with Comino and Malta in the near distance. There is an old fashioned charm here with the excellent service from staff. We felt valued guests. We never tired of the view from the balcony in the day or evening. The rooms are a great size, with very comfortable beds. We will definitely be returning soon.

It was an amazing experience celebrating my birthday, I was the first time in this hotel (Grand Hotel, Mgarr Gozo)for sure is not the last time that I visit this hotel and I recommend with no doubt. The two places that are amazing is the level 9 restaurant that is was located on the roof with a nice view of the Gozo Mgarr Harbour and the second that I was impressed is the outdoor pool that was very big and relaxing area with nice view of the harbour

We liked the hotel as it had a new section that was so up to date. Other than yhe construction in front it was quiet. We just could not get a good meal down stairs. The morning buffett was good but the scrambled eggs needed to be cooked more & not so runny. Shower had mold in the corner & the jacuzzi switch was hidden & we were not told about that. The staff was super friendly & very helpful. Great location for us too.
