Good stay in the studio. Small space but adequate for one night. Plenty of hot water and kitchen equipment. As the motel is situated along the main road it did get noisy with heavy lorry passing from 5am. That said we would stay again

If you’re looking to be away from the tourists in Tekapo, this is the place. Only 15 minutes away, it’s almost the middle of nowhere, in a good way. Just a few rooms, in a beautiful mountain setting, and if it hadn’t been so cloudy the starry sky would have been amazing. Quirky retro display across the highway and local history on display. Owner was very kind and helpful.

Our room was spotlessly clean and we could park right outside. We were provided with tea, coffee, etc. and some milk and a few slices of bread, plus butter and jam for toast - much appreciated. The bed was comfortable and the location pretty quiet, so we slept well. Our hosts had thoughtfully turned on the heater - as the nights were cooler. Plenty of hot water, clean towels and toiletries. The room is equipped with a small fridge (with freezer compartment) and a microwave - plus kettle and toaster, crockery and cutlery etc. We could have made the short drive to Tekapo, Fairlie or Kemble to eat out, but were satisfied with a basic meal of our own. Our hosts offer to pick up meals produced by the Tavern in Kemble if requested in advance. We had a table and a couple of chairs on a small deck outside. The motel was an ideal base for our star gazing excursion at the nearby Dark Skies Project and for a day trip to Mount Cook - about an hour and a half drive through stunning vistas. Our hosts were clearly working hard to make our stay as comfortable and enjoyable as possible - they gave a short run through of the facilities and made it clear that we had only to ask if we needed something.

This is a very small motel with few units. Our en-suite cottage had a sitting porch with a backyard garden and sheep paddock. It was nice and very small. There was nowhere to eat nearby which I knew before arriving. The unit has not been updated but clean

We really enjoyed our stay at this nice little motel. It’s not often you see a 2 bedroom motel room which was nice. The kitchen is well equipped for such a small space and we really appreciated the BBQ.

The room has a small patio where we can sit and enjoy watching the sheep and chickens that live in motel’s backyard, something that not many places offer. A toaster, silverware, a kettle and plates/bowls are provided.

Buerkes Pass is a quirky and interesting little place to see (look online). The motel is directly across the road which was good. The setting is in beautiful countryside. You can sit outside in the garden and admire the views. You can even help to feed their sheep. The rooms are fairly small but have been well designed to have everything you need. Comfortable bed, good shower, microwave, hot plate etc.. All good. Best of all though was the relaxed friendly feeling about the place. Lovely people (and cute little dog). We loved our stay. Ps. Also a lot better value than Tekapo which is only a very short drive away. Thanks Megan
