Great place to stay while in Christchurch! Staff is friendly and very responsive. Accidentally left an item in the room - got in touch with the hotel and they got everything lined up for me to get it picked up and followed up multiple times to make sure everything was good. The rooms are clean, well maintained, and the hotel is conveniently located close to the Riverside Market, and other attractions.

I only had one night at The George, however, I was very pleased with everything. The location is great and a pleasant stroll to the shops, botanical gardens etc. a nice touch was the heated bathroom floor and towel rails which were switched on. I had dinner at Bistro 50 where the food and wine were excellent. Isla, the waitress was just lovely. Matt on reception also excellent

We only had one night in The George before returning home but it was brilliant. We had a junior suite and it was perfect. Loads of space, super comfortable bed and super bathroom. We ate in the bar as there was staffing issues and no availability in the Bistro, however the food was good and we enjoyed the atmosphere. Location was good but with limited time to explore, we will head back to this hotel on return to Christchurch. The staff we great - friendly and did everything they could to help.

Excellent stay with friendly and helpful staff in this boutique luxury hotel. We were welcomed with chocolates and a gift bear, “George.” The lobby was very welcoming with multiple seating areas. There were complimentary apples in baskets on the different floors. There is a reading library and an outdoor garden, as well. Our room was very well appointed and comfortable. We could not hear our neighbors.
The restaurant was excellent. The food was well prepared. We would gladly eat there again.
The park with botanical gardens is right across the street.

The George is an outstanding hotel. The service was amazing. The bistro and bar were very good. The room was very comfortable and modern. The location is right next to the Avon River and park and is a perfect place to stay at in Christchurch if you want to walk to the main attractions.
