GRANDE HOTEL PARIS by STAY HOTELS

Loved this place. It had so much character and was like stepping back in time except with modern amenities. My room had a balcony with view of the lovely garden and the Clerigos Tower. Air conditioned (Porto was hot). Bed was comfortable. Modern bathroom with luxurious bathsheets. Breakfast buffet was definitely worth it with many options including an espresso machine. The woman who checked me in was very helpful and friendly. The rest of the staff was nice but a little aloof - not a big deal. It's not a good place for people with mobility issues because you have a flight of stairs before you get to reception and elevator level. And noone helps you with your luggage. Also, unless you hire luxury transport, you'll get dropped a half block away (Uber). The location is great. Get a paper map. Google and Apple maps are terrible. From here I walked everywhere. There's a wonderful authentic home cooking restaurant just across the cobblestone from the hotel. Restaurants and shopping all around.

The hotel is in a great location for exploring the city. The staff were attentive and friendly although we were questioned before heading into breakfast and several checks were made to ensure we’d booked and paid. It seemed a little unnecessary and no apology was made that we were made to feel like we were trying to sneak in! The hotel hadn’t seen the messages I had sent prior to arrival so check in took a little while. When I first entered the room, straight away I could see the curtain hanging from the rail, I reported it in the morning and an attempt was made to put it back up but it was still allowing a lot of light into the room. Otherwise the bedroom was very comfortable. The eco bin system needs labelling! And the shower could do with a good clean, it’s very dirty in the corners and around the door.

The rooms are very well furnished, nice and cozy, very clean. Staff is helpful, welcoming and professional. The location is central to everywhere. Highly recommended. Definitely we will stay there again.

We loved this horel. This was agreat hotel. If you can't sleep well i wouldn't stay here very noisy.

It was great to stay at the hotel. I enjoyed it. The place was clean and the ambiance is great. The stuff were really friendly and helpful. It was a last minute book for me, but it was a great find. I will stay here again when I visit Porto for sure.

My stay was pleasant. My only suggestion is to have someone at the desk at all times. I was already running late to catch a train to Lisbon but I couldn’t find anyone at the desk. The check out lady was in the kitchen helping to serve breakfast!

Great hotel! Perfect location, walkable to everything. Super friendly, English-speaking staff. Hotel room was clean and thoughtful. So happy I picked this hotel for my short stay!

Old world feel to the property but updated. Staff was excellent.

Horrible hotel. The AC was not working for 2 nights that we stayed. The hairdryer was broken and there was no Iron. Upon requesting 5 times we were told that somebody had stolen the only 1 iron they had in the whole hotel. The reception desk is also not 24 hours.

I brought the wrong keys for my padlock and was unable to get into my suitcase, however the staff were amazing and came to my rescue for which I was really grateful for as a solo traveller. The hotel is very well located to places of interest, such as Chapel of souls, Duoro river, Bolhao market. There is a small bar area and courtyard. Overall, the hotel is beautifully styled.

This is advertised as a 4-star hotel. However this hotel was a grave disappointment, in many ways a lower standard than 3-star hotels I've used. I will be contacting the Portuguese Tourist Board to see when they last inspected the property. Biggest issue was insufficient members of staff working at any one time, especially at Reception, and managing the breakfast. One of the receptionists even admitted to me at one point that the management need to employ more staff. The room we were initially given was OK apart from a very dirty shower. But within an hour, water was leaking from inside the top of the wardrobe, wetting our clothes. The water was leaking through a light fixture which potentially could have been very unsafe. Alerted Reception staff (on a Friday evening) but she told me she was the only staff member working at that time so she couldn't some to see it! So I had to email photos and video so that she could forward them to her manager (off-site). We were moved to the only vacant room which I was told was a similar "Superior Twin", but actually *much* smaller. Also the floor was very uneven such that the level of the beds' head was lower than that of the feet! I get the impression this room is not used much - a last resort. Never got reply to email or offered compensation. Breakfast was very disappointing. Many days we were missing items, e.g. eggs, orange juice, milk. Sometimes fresh fruit crawling with flies. Understaffed, so often no clean tables to sit at.

It is a nice hotel, breakfast is good, well located, cleanliness is good, but it has stairs before the front desk without elevator, thinking on luggages. However, the customer service isn't good in all the receptionist, it will depend if you're lucky with a good one.

Amazing location - traveling with kids they had their own room by booking the suite.

Such a lovely room! I adored the high ceilings and the blackout curtains. Was able to leave my luggage at the desk after checking out. Such a convenient, walkable location for all Porto has to offer. Hope I can come back again someday!!
