Very good experience. Excelent breakfast. Excelent program of intertainment, mostly to kids. Good location and good view.
Bad things: we didn' t have water in the apartment during 2h in the lunch times, for 2 days what was bad when you have kids and will lunch in the apartment. The in door pool and jacuzi was out of service during 3 days.

Beautiful place. Vey clean and looks great. All the personnel were very kind and helpful and spoke English very well. The breakfast was very good. The kitchen in the apartment was well equipped. There is a golf training area which we enjoyed a lot. Wonderful experience. Highly recommended.

Resortet ligger i skønne, naturlige omgivelser - og billederne af idyllen passede faktisk med virkeligheden. Nærmeste supermarked var ca. 10 km. væk, og man skal være opmærksom på, at der er langt til alt (så det kræver bil/lejebil at bo der).
Personalet var venligt og meget hjælpsomt; fx manglede der en proptrækker i boligen, hvilket blev fremskaffet og sendt til lejligheden i løbet af 20 min. Der var et meget højt serviceniveau, fx med daglig rengøring af lejligheden, hvilket vi ikke har været vant til i andre ferieboliger.
Lejligheden var kæmpestor (med 3 soveværelser) og med god plads til alle. Vi kunne dog godt have brugt nogle flere terrassemøbler (der var kun 2 stole og intet bord eller fx solsenge). Endvidere var der ikke strømstik til opladning af mobiler mv. i alle værelser - det ville have været rart.
Langt de fleste gæster var portugisere. Det er nok også grunden til, at der sjældent var skiltet på engelsk (fx var ugens aktiviteter på resortet og dagens menu i restauranten kun på portugisisk). Morgenmaden var rigtig fin - især var den friske frugt god (men brødet lidt kedeligt). Til aften var der buffet, der var lækker, men dog ret ens de fleste dage - lidt større variation kunne have været fint. Én ting irriterede i restauranten: tjenerne stod på spring for at fjerne ens tallerkener, næsten inden vi havde spist færdig, så man næsten kunne blive helt stresset. Men måske er det kulturelt betinget....

Positives:
- Beautiful location near a lake, large swimming pool.
Negatives:
- Apartment I stayed in is in need of a refurb and missing amenities e.g only one hair drier in a 6 guests flat, no ironing board or anywhere to hang clothes in one of the rooms.
- Poor service - booked a boat trip at the hotel’s marina through reception, on the day and time booked no one was there, had to call reception twice to be told boat needs maintenance. Also let them know this was a special occasion (birthday), no acknowledgment at all during our stay, also not all services were open e.g pool bar or other bars closing very early and there was clearly staff shortages impacting on cleaniness of the communal areas. Also some staff were not very attentive either.
Overall certainly not up to 5* standards.

Beautiful spot. The service in the dining room is a little slow but I think it may be the Portuguese way: when we arrive in the dining room and they seat you at the table, they do not offer a drink right away, not water or wine, you have to wait 5-10 minutes. It’s quite disconcerting for me as a Canadian as we like to be served a drink, even water, when we sit down.
Also the lighting in the dining room is more befitting a big department store than a dining room. We asked to turn the lights down, which they did in our area. But there was a couple with a baby in a stroller under the bright lights.
The food was excellent. I couldn’t get a massage appointment, they were all booked up although there was hardly anyone at the resort. The pool area is gorgeous. We did rent a kayak for anhour. We kayak often, have our own kayaks but this one was a little heavy, harder to manipulate as were the oars.

We travelled as a family of 4 for our Summer holidays. The Hotel conditions, in general, are good, but the “5th star was lost” somewhere. To make it clear and objective:
- Really nice pools, amazing area, fantastic views, good apartments, nice friendliness of staff.
- The food, mainly at lunch, is, to state it softly, poor. When you are in a 5-star hotel you expect a level of service, food variety and quality to be even across all amenities, but this is not definetely the case. Even understanding that lunch is served in the pool restaurant, therefore it’s supposed to be “lighter”, to have canned food (mushrooms, peaches, ...) served and so few options in the buffet (poor salads and variety of side dishes) is really disappointing.
- The dinner buffet was better than lunch, but still has some of the same problems. In a region with such amazing ingredients, it’s a shame that some of the dishes (mainly the sides) lacked a proper cook to put it together. On the positive side, all the deserts (quantity and variety) was at a 5-star level in all dinner meals.
- The hotel states that it has a Kids Club: this is a joke, except if you consider a 3x3m room with literally one book and one pretend-to-be plastic phone and some baby chairs will entertain anyone (definitely not a 1-year old nor a 5-year old).
- Security: in general, the Hotel is very safe and your kids can play around without major problems.

The hotel is situated in a beautiful part of Portugal, which unfortunately suffered with the terrible forest fires of 2017. It is very sad to see the extent of the devastated woodlands, but that wasn’t comparable to the condition of this hotel.
Although the apartment was incredibly spacious, it was looking tired and in need of some work to reach a 5 star level.
The level of cleaniless was poor, and the furniture was chipped in places.
They appear to have started some renovations on other apartments as there was a considerable amount of building work. Disappointing stay.

The low cost build and fit out, not to mention the tired state of the accommodation and linen renders the hotel sub 3 star. The breakfast quality is similar.
As a kids resort or water sports training facility it is great for the uncaring on quality.

Had a nice stay at Montebelo Agueira Lake resport & Spa, save for two issues: Only one of the staff in reception could speak English, and the Sauna in the Spa was probably only at 55 deg C. The Hotel restaurant was good (lunch + dinner), and great service from their staff.

Great Hotel, We got a cheap last minute deal so deffinately worth the price. Good Amenities - indoor heated pool and sauna.. Restuarant was great and reasonably priced. Internet connection was poor especially wifi in the bar. Beautiful view. Difficutlt to find the reception area due to the constructions.
