At first, I thought just budget hotel. But second impressions, Bencolooen hotel was good
Nice hotel located downtown area
Nice Croisant, sosis and room.
Great place, great location and friendly staff. Recommended.
I've made a last minute reservation for my aunt and uncle who are in their 60s (++) just a few days before arriving in Singapore. Didn't regret my choice! We got more than what we paid for and were very impressed by the overall quality of service. The hotel is neat and new. The 20 sqm space given for the Executive Twin room we had was a rare luxury to find in Singapore compare to several other boutique hotels I've been to. As our room is next to the street, it can get a little noisy near the window but apart from that everything is great. Cleanliness is superb and beds are comfortable.. not to mentioned well-equipped facilities such as ironing board, slippers, fridge, kettles, rain shower, etc. The lobby offers a complimentary free flow of drinks with some light snacks. Staffs are friendly and cheerful. Will definitely be No.1 on the list for my next visit. Surely recommended!
The hotel is near the Clarke Quay MRT Station. Although the room is small, it is clean and ideal for couples. We checked in and out smoothly. Also, I did not expect that the breakfast is so good. Selection of breads, sausages, fruits etc.. The breads here are excellent. I will surely going back to this hotel.
The breakfast was really good, the room was nice and clean. Nothing to complain.
Very nice place to stay. It's very near bus stop and MRT station so you don't have to walk a lot
Great. I've been here 2 times and I'll come back later. Sure.
Good value, decent sized room, convenient location.

Best staff and management
We stayed for four nights as a group of eight in four rooms. The staff were so helpful and the General Manager Jerry was hands on all the time. He even came down early on our day of departure to wish us a safe journey. Rooms were comfortable and we all enjoyed the breakfast. The receptionist would call us taxi's on request and if they took too long to arrive, they were on the phone calling them for information as to why they were late. Good location as well. All eight of us stated that we would definitely stay there again.

Great little Hotel
My first time in Singapore and booked into hotel due to reviews i read of trip advisor, i was not disappointed with my pick. I was a solo traveler and pick double room, the facilities within the room were great, i had mini fridge, safe, iron, ironing board, hairdryer, hot drink facilities too. The hotel is situated around the corner from Clarke Quay & MRT, is quieter than been on main road but great that so close. It is 10 minute walk to China Town also. Breakfast provided, range is ok, pastries, cheese, fruit, cereal, hot and cold drinks. The small dinning area can get busy so need to go to breakfast either first thing or towards the end to gain table. Staff were very friendly and helpful with information, local knowledge. Late check in and check out available if communicated. Upon arrival i had a problem with shower in room, this was corrected the following day by maintenance guys.

Hotel Bencoolen HK Street - 2017 Trip
A second review 2017 trip to Singapore with friends. First up, this is a great location for tourists as it is close to everything. It is what I call a boutique hotel as it is small and quieter than larger hotels. Having stayed before, we knew what to expect in terms of location and rooms. The breakfast selection had increased a little. They are offering cheese board now and on one day they had danishes and buns. There was also pasta. I would not normally eat pasta for breakfast nor cheese but it was a change. The most unappealing part of the breakfast selection for us was the Danishes were not properly cooked. usually danishes are crisp and golden but these were limp and pale, slightly uncooked. The eggs were less oily looking than on the visit last year but still unhealthy fried eggs. Scrambled eggs would be a better option. I don't mind chicken sausages when they are cooked golden brown but they were pale and white. Most unappealing. Another guest beside me at the time remarked on the fact that they were 'not cooked' and bypassed them. In general, the staff were pleasant and helpful. It did intrigue me to see staff sweeping the lounge instead of using a vacuum cleaner. I didn't expect that in a Singapore hotel, maybe in Chinatown. A staff member attending to the lounge/breakfast area had music playing from her mobile over the piped music. In addition singing along to it. It's nice to see people happy at work but this is taking it a little too far. My understanding is that the hotel's goal is to create an ambient environment for their guests, not for their staff. For guests this is not only annoying but unprofessional behaviour and does not reflect well on the hotel. The room was adequate, quiet and clean. The curtain was coming off the rail and there was a loose powerpoint but apart from that it was OK. Overall good place for a short trip but lacks attention to detail. Positives: Great Location Non-smoking Jacuzzi Not too busy Close to MRTs, Buses, Walking distance to amenities and Tourist landmarks Quiet Rooms Polite friendly staff at front desk Free Wifi Free Breakfast Will store bags if required for a few hours Negatives: Sleeping pillows uncomfortable Lifts, doors, skirting boards and windows should be cleaner Breakfast - sausages and danishes not cooked properly; eggs oily Lounge environment - staff playing own music over piped music No gym

Great value gem of a hotel
We arrived really early at the hotel - 6am. The room as expected wasn't ready yet but the receptionist was happy to store our luggage and let us freshen up in the bathroom. We headed for the Botanical Gardens which open at 5am and had a much needed nap there and a wander around. On returning to the hotel we were told there were only twin rooms of the room standard we had booked... so we got upgraded to a larger premium room, result! Room was modern with a bathroom sectioned off in a glass cube which could be made private by rolling down blinds within the bathroom. Had a large standalone bath and separate shower cubicle. The hotels small reception area was where breakfast was based- would recommend going down early for guaranteed table straight away. Breakfast choice was limited but sufficient- eggs, pastries, bread, cereals, salad, pasta & fruits. A nice touch was they left the coffee machine/ water / tea and biscuits out all day and said free to help yourself whenever. Staff were always smiling and friendly and gave us some good restaurant recommendations too.

Nice stuff average room
We had Loft which appears to be really small. May be it’s because of the location where you can’t find big apartments unless you’re in a new building. No gym. There is a small pool there. Frankly speaking that’s a choice for those who’d like to be in a city centre and are ready not to have much space. Complimentary coffee and tea available at the caffe opposite to the front desk. Good wi fi
