ALEGRIA Maripins

We spent a few nights at Alegria Maripins in August as a couple on all inclusive basis. The room was clean and extremely spacious with balcony overlooking the pool and sea view, too. Rooms were cleaned daily, too, by lovely housekeeping staff. The hotel is right on a promenade but the town itself is not as busy as we expected (few restaurants, no taxi). The pool is very small for the size of the hotel and whilst mostly fine, there was a day when all the beds were taken by 10am (one off). The all inclusive restaurant- definitely not the best I’ve been to. Some meals were tasteless, selection of chips daily and very few signs with identifying the dish- chicken paella changed into pork mid-service without a change of tag- which we were very unhappy with! On occasion there was a queue to even get into the restaurant- we gave up 10 mins later and ate out. Two bars by the pool on different levels, even though one closed randomly for a few hours a day. Staff was lovely, but in general cannot give this hotel a higher rating.

Main elevator consistently did not work. All inclusive didn’t include many drink options or snack options. Food buffers for breakfast, lunch and dinner weren’t that great. Staff was great and the room was good. A/C actually worked too!!

Visited a few years back and was fabulous. This year was very disappointed. The food was terrible, the hot buffet was mostly cold, and the room was average, the balcony view was disappointing, and the bathroom arrangement was poor

Lovely hotel in good location, handy for the train into Barcelona

This is a really fun place to stay. It's close to the beach and sits on a boardwalk with a bunch of weird shops and some good restaurants. The buffet was good, and my kids loved the variety. The room was big and clean. The staff was very helpful as well. You do have to park off-site if you don't want to pay for parking, but it wasn't a problem at all. We will stay here again when we return to Spain!

Twenty years of a regular tourist and this is not a hotel I would return to. Rooms need updating, many overheard complaints at reception and for a 4* I’ve never seen such a poor food selection. The look of guests faces said it all. Disappointing.

Just all in all a good room and service, only complaints is that i asked for a triple room with a double bed and a single and instead got 3 triples, also very unique design with an open shower however not appropiate if travelling with family. All in all good hotel with amazing amenities, gotta try the breakfast buffet!

Location was good with beach a stones throw away and rooms were kept clean. However food was cold and bland so we ate out a lot.. breakfast was a bit better than evening meal. When we checked in there were no towels in the room and spilt ice cream from the last guest on the balcony. We were told we had to move rooms mid stay then given the wrong key several times necessitating running up and downstairs 3 times late at night with a young child. Then the next morning when we eventually did move we were told we didn’t have to after all and we had to return to the original room. Such a faff and staff weren’t helpful. Electricity went out one night too.. Check in also took forever and it seemed there was constantly a huge queue at reception so it was tricky to get the multiple issues we had resolved. Very small amount of food on offer for a large number of guests meant it was always cold by the time you queued up/waited for everything (microwave was there for this purpose which said a lot) and the staff started clearing food away 15 mins before end of service times and actually pointed at their watches and told a group of elderly women to leave at 10am etc. very rude. We found Meal times were awful to be honest with the lack of tasty warm food and queues and general Hectic feeling of it all. Felt sorry for AI guests. Location was great but any hotel along the long sea front had the beach etc, wouldn’t recommend this hotel sadly, in our opinion it was not 4 star quality.

Limited variety for food. Should install fans in different areas.

Very professional staff and clean property. If you must visit Malgrat de Mar, then this is the place to stay.

We have been to this hotel on numerous occasions it’s modern in a good location and the staff are friendly and it’s mostly couples and family’s not loads of drunken yobs

The food was amazing, so much choice. The room was a little outdated , towel rail was broke as was the shower head.

We enjoyed our time here a few things need updating a little but not much. The food was great we love trying new things. The entertainment was brilliant as where the staff. We will be back again

Everything from the room to the staff was great! Good views of the beach, good size pool with lots of beds and brollys. I have nothing to complain about, even the buffet changed every night so good selection

Liked plenty of available sunbeds. Disliked our room, really tiny could not sit on balcony as legs wouldn't fit when sitting in those ridiculous chairs!

Prior to arrival I requested a double bed and got 2 separate beds. I asked the reception for king sheets and they quickly came and made one big bed for us. I appreciated that. Bed was comfortable, and room was clean. The view from the room was awesome. Lunch and dinner are ok, could have been better. Think it would have been better if they cooked more regional meals. Staff was super friendly and professional, and there was entertainment every night. Overall we had a great stay.
