Hostal Aresol

Fantastic location, clean and comfortable, but it's a one-star hostal rather than 2.5 as advertised, and the description is misleading - it does not have 24 hour reception, and luggage storage is only available for free until 15.00.

This hostal is ideal if you want to be in the middle of the tourist area with everything on the doorstep. 1 minute from Sol metro. Very safe. Clean and well maintained. Lovely staff. Could not fault it. Would book again.

Friendly and accomodating

Location, location, location! Hardest part was finding this unpretentious gem just off Pl. del Sol, center of town & transport hub. Once we found the doorway (sign is 3 stories up, the staff helped us in. Clean,comfortable rooms, center of town at your feet, groceries around the corner. What a nice find!

Everything was perfect

Hostel room was very small, but 1minute walk to center of Plaza Del Sol and easy access to museums and shopping. Hotel very basic, but clean and safe and good air conditioner (was there in July). I travel quite a bit and this hostel is for the budget traveler who just needs good free internet service and cool, comfortable place to sleep at night.

This hostal is very simple, no frills, but the location at the beginning of Calle del Arenal is 1/2 a block from the very center of Madrid, the Puerto del Sol (PdS). For those Americans sensing the cravings, Burger King is right below it, McDonald's and KFC are a block away. We tried a Mexican restaurant one night, a Thai restaurant another, a Korean restaurant another and Spanish restaurants 3 times - all within 2 blocks of the hostal. Where Calle del Arenal hits PdS there is a subway entrance, stairs and elevator - your gateway to Madrid. One night we were serenaded by a 40+ voice choir singing "Deep in the Heart of Texas" in four-part harmony, three floors below our window on the street, making the experience surreal. The next night we were entertained by a political rally whose repeating cry was "Madrid won't consume Coca Cola!" Every night there were Russian violinists playing underneath our window, and they were concert hall quality! There are an abundance of small souvenir stores on the street, and around the corner is El Corte Inglés, the largest dept store chain in Spain, which also sells souvenirs along with toiletries and other items. There is a great chocolate place 2 blocks up the street, on the right and another on the left. There is a pharmacy 2 blocks up, and another 2 streets over. The only shortcoming on location is that you cannot get there by car. Your cab will drop you 2 or 3 streets away and you can walk down Calle Arenal to the hostal.

Very good, if you want to be at the heart of tourists' world and activities in Madrid. Basic hotel with reasonably clean bed and bathroom.

The Best location ever..just feet away from puerta del sol, Night life , And some delicious food!

The hostel was good for the price I paid and its location. However, it was kind of difficult to find it. Actually, you have to ring the bell at the door next to Taco Bell on the right (3rd floor) and announce yourself. They will let you in. The elevator is pretty old (the doors are opened and closed manually), but it functions well. There is no breakfast at the hostel, but you can find some places for breakfast nearby. The best thing for me was to stay close to the Sol (Renfe local train station), which has an elevator (for the suitcase), and then to travel easily to Atocha Train Station and take a long-distance train. I recommend this place to those who plan to take a long-distance train from Atocha.

O quarto era perfeito, o banheiro com tudo novinho. A recepcionista muito atenciosa. A única questão é o barulho da rua na madrugada, isso no meu quarto, não sei dizer em outros.

ソルから数十メートル。とにかく便利。　事前のウェブチェックインで、チェックイン時に鍵を貰うだけでストレスなし。かなり早めに到着しましたが、すぐに部屋に案内して貰えました。部屋もバスルームも清潔で広さも満足でコスパ最強です。おすすめです。

A localização é incrível, perto de tudo. O ar do quarto demorava muuuito para gelar! Não tem frigobar! Cama e chuveiro bom! O elevador é do século 10. A atendente foi simpática e nos recebeu muito bem!
