Hotel Caprice

Great location! Such a picturesque view of the Alps! We enjoyed our stay here!

We stayed at Hotel Caprice in Grindelwald for five nights in July. The hotel is conveniently located about 200 meters from Grindelwald train station, but it is situated at the top of a steep hill. Unlike some nearby hotels, it does not offer a shuttle service. Carrying heavy luggage uphill was very inconvenient. The hotel does not have air conditioning, and the room became extremely uncomfortable during the summer. When we opened the windows for ventilation, flies and cockroaches entered the room, making it difficult to sleep. The room was also quite small for our family of four. We had one king-size bed and one bunk bed, yet the rate was approximately USD 800 per night. In our opinion, the room and overall experience did not justify the high price. The television was mounted on the wall but had no signal, so we were unable to watch the news. We also found the staff unwelcoming, and it was surprisingly difficult to obtain even one additional key card for our family members. Overall, the hotel has a convenient location, but the lack of air conditioning, shuttle service, room comfort, working television, and friendly service made our stay disappointing. At this price level, I would recommend considering other nearby hotels that may offer better comfort, service, and value.

The view from our room was 100/10. Breakfast was tasty. The hotel was conveniently located close to the train station. I couldn’t rest at night though. The mattresses were too firm, there was no any topper on it. The sleeping couch was not comfortable either, the head side was lower than the foot side.

Very convenient location with good breakfast. The owner and staffs are very nice and very attentive. Room services were done in every day! Number of food options near by and free parking at the hotel. The view is spectacular which is the main reason for our stay. Definitely recommend.

Family owned and managed. Very personal care of the property and guests. Newly renovated or very well kept. No rug in the room. Conveniently located up hill from the train station. Good breakfast.

Lovely breakfast and breathtaking views. Our second time here and we intend to stay here again whenever in Grindelwald.

We fell in love with this little family-run, multi-generational hotel. It's right above the train station in Grindelwald (not the terminal station, but the second and last station on the Grindelwald line). It takes about 5 minutes to walk up from the station. At first we were a bit tentative at check-in because the owner/host was not very friendly. But over time she warmed up to us. The breakfast was wonderful and the views spectacular! We really enjoyed the little back yard area where we could lounge around and take in the 280 degree views of the mountains and valley below. Convenient to shopping, dinning and the ski areas. We would stay again!

Very quaint mountain village hotel where staff were extremely friendly and great selection at breakfast which exceeded expectations.

The staff was friendly and it seemed to be just recently renovated with new carpets. The breakfast was delicious and the staff was very kind and helpful

Quaint, Swiss chalet perfection. Steps from train station, but up in a hill to view quintessential Swiss mountain views. Immaculately clean. Expertly decorated and maintained. Staff/owners were accommodating to every need and friendly. Breakfast buffet was unmatched- maybe the best croissants I’ve ever had. I loved it here. If I ever stay in Grindelwald again, I will be back! Four stars!!!

Wonderful staff, great breakfast options, amazing views. Room was very comfortable and seems rather new. Bathroom was very modern with all amenities. Hotel has a jacuzzi and sauna. Met Bailey, their 4 legged ambassador who is very friendly. A short walk up the hill from the train station, could not have been more convenient and you don’t hear or see the trains. I will be back!!

Pros: The place is spotless. Pros: The view of Eiger is breathtaking. Pros: The breakfast is awesome. Pros: The room is kept spotless. Pros: It's super close to the train station. Cons: The room is very small. Cons: No AC. Cons: The water pressure is not good. Cons: The advertised whirlpool isn't operational. Cons: Aside from breakfast, no food options.

Conveniently located to the train station. Room is clean and tidy. Facilities are adequate. But staff could be more welcoming

Everything was excellent -about this hotel. We were two adults and one kid 10 year. Location 10/10 Staff 10/10 Breakfast 10/10 Cleanliness 10/10 Views in winter 10/10
