Stars and Stripes - Motel Steighof

Rooms a bit of a surprise. Concrete block building but the rooms are OK, if a bit worn. Breakfast limited but acceptable. All staff very helpful and friendly.

When I entered my room (1) the door was open. It was freezing inside so I put on the heaters. One was hot instantly but since it was in front of the door and bathroom it didn’t help making the room warm. It took at least 3-4 hours until the temperature was reasonable. The other heater, under the window, made water noises the whole time until maybe 11pm. And started at 5am again. Even with earplugs and the other pillow over my head it was too noisy to sleep. It probably needs to be purged or something. Then at 11:18pm (I was asleep) someone knocked on the door next to mine but it was so loud I thought it was mine. They asked « hast du essen? ». Apparently I wasn’t the person they were expecting so they dismissed me but without even apologizing for waking me up. Also there is no 4G data at all. And the wifi doesn’t reach into this room. It connects for a second and then disconnects. I wasn’t even able to upload a 20Mo file to a cloud drive. I came here to sleep and work. It was really difficult to do either. Thankfully the food was good and there was wifi in the restaurant. But I would have loved wifi in the room too.

Hotel is a bit in the country, pretty area near Zurich. The American style restaurant is nice, I just had a couple beers and listened to the country music. Service was excellent at the bar/restaurant. Plenty of parking. Very good WiFi.

Beautiful location in the countryside near Winterthur. The motel is close to a true American motel, as pictured, parking right outside the room. The room itself is simple but has everything you need for a motel stay and has very good Wi-Fi in the rooms. Friendly staff and main attraction is the restaurant that has American memorabilia all over and typical diner food with big menu.

Lovely place, just the food was very expensive £50 for two burgers and two drinks

Not a lot to say arrived in the evening and left early the next day.

Receptionist is in the pub. Rooms are outside the main building, which seem like portable construction. Parking is free. Bearable for one night.

We had a long trip driving and visiring places ocer Europe and had to cross trough this beautiful country. As usual we arrived late, but the staff was there kindly waiting. The place was so clean and warm. Beatiful views and convenient location for us. We recomend it of you are heading to Zurich. H & K.

Room was clean though too expensive for what you get. No extra commodities such second pillow, blanket, hair drier and no wardrobe, shower head too powerful... no hot drinks, the hotel/restorant was in an isolated location.. .. restorant far too expensive. Too expensive for what it is.

No Wifi for guest

Most disappointing, with all the American decor, nobody spoke or understood English very well.

good motel for just an overnight stay, i arrived late staff were nice and bar/restaurant is cool. Motel room are but scary from outside as they dont have windows on outside but windows on other side of building. All round good for a sleep over

Yes, they have internet. No, they do not have wireless. (We had to go elsewhere to connect with our phones and tablet.) The view of the green cornfield out our window was really nice. Our server at breakfast was very personable and friendly.

Awful! They lied and said they have WiFi--but NO WiFi. I want my money back from Hotels.com, or I will dispute this charge with my bank. Dirty hotel, unsafe, no front desk check-in, almost all TV channels were Arabic, dirty sheets. The worst.

Die Mitarbeiter waren sehr nett, jedoch ist die Unterkunft an sich in die Jahre gekommen. An Sauberkeit hatte es gemangelt.
