CHECK Inn Taichung LaiLai

Ideal location, close to many restaurants, shopping malls. Friendly staff and clean facilities. The gym was very nice. Staff provided a quick tour. We stayed several nights. The only issue was the dryer in the laundry room, it took a while to dry and my clothes were removed even though I kept checking within the allowed time. There was only 1 washer and 3 dryers in the 5th floor laundry room. The iron is located there as well. (I called the front desk to ask for an iron and was initially told there was none but saw when using the laundry facilities.) Overall a great location and would stay here again.

Absolutely amazing gym!

This hotel was so much better years ago before it was sold to another group. Pros: - The room was the same, and they were nice rooms. - Free washer/dryer and laundry detergent. - Free bottles of waters in the room. - Great location. - Great water pressure for shower. My room had both bath tub and a separate shower area. - they offer body wash and shampoo Cons: - breakfast buffet was sad looking with poor taste. It was just not good. The breakfast buffet was the highlight of our stay years ago, and not that it was sold to a different group, the breakfast buffet became the worst part of the stay. - there was no hand soap or hand wash in the room. I get that they don’t offer single use toiletries for environmental concerns, but no hand wash? Come on… For real?… Daily housekeeping did place a small soap the next day, but I had already bought my own hand wash as I kinda prefer to wash my hands first thing after checking into my room especially after a long travel day. And having to go out again just to get hand wash was beyond annoying. And of course, I called front desk to ask for hand wash/soap and was told they didn’t have any…

Breakfast was amazing, shops are everywhere.. prices are great, food is unique and people are so kind..

There is some construction adjacent to the property. There was a gym next door and a night market across the street. Walking distance to Taichung Park and a small cute red bridge. A very old (75 year) Christian church (Grace Memorial) was also nearby.

Several notable bonuses for staying at Lailai set it apart from other hotels: 1) it shares the building with World Gym, the franchise started by Arnold Schwarzenegger. The hotel provides a voucher for guests to work out for free. They say it is the largest gym in Taiwan, and the variety of exercise machines, weight machines, and free weights seems to bear that out. If you're addicted to working out like me, you may even feel spoiled . There's a broad offering of exercise classes and hotel guests are welcome, also for no fee. Note, the mid afternoon classes cater to retirees. 2) an excellent breakfast buffet is included. The variety of dishes is surprising. More impressive is that many of the dishes changed on the second day of my stay. So often these hotels will serve the same breakfast day after day, so that after a few days even the delicious food seems boring. 3) free laundry! The basket in your closet has your room number on it. If you happen to leave your clothes in the washing machine or dryer too long, the next person to come along can simply dump your clothes into the bucket and just get there wash on. The one issue I did have was that the AC did not bring my room to a comfortable temperature. Apparently, the 9th floor AC units are not as effective as those on the 6th floor. The staff was super about changing my room immediately and letting me know not to expect the room to cool below 20° C.

This hotel is directly opposite a busy night market and is close to many convenience stores and shopping. Rooms are clean and they were also kind enough to change rooms for us when the Aircon in our original one wasn't working properly. Front desk was also responsive, friendly and efficient. Breakfast was so-so in terms of variety but still good to have in the morning. Definitely a good place to stay in Taichung!

I like they have washer and dryer at the property and the cleaner are very prompting to clean. Convenient location!

Service was great, excellent gym, very good breakfast too. Only problem was the smelly closet, which apparently is a persistent problem for all rooms because of the material it used.

Customer service was amazing even though it was difficult situations by the virus. Hotel was very clean as well

Big and spacious, unfortunately they couldnt come to the room to fix the heating. Heating is done for the entire floor than a single room. So if you end up on a corner suite like we did and there isnt enough heating, you would just have to ask for extra blankets.

We were in Taichung for medical reasons and nine days. The hospital was in walking distance from the hotel. Clean rooms and friendly staff. Hotel stay includes free workout at #1 The World Gym which includes spa facilities. A low hotel price for great Hotel accommodation.
