Definitely not a 5 star hotel (not sure why this rating is kept in expedia) more like a 3 star. Photos and descriptions in the expedia listing are very inaccurate. Eg only one restaurante, no cafe, etc staff well meaning but not 5star trained for sure.
That said it was cheap so value for money and a pleasant stay overall.

The hotel is a bit remote, but this was fine with us since we were with a large group staying in a variety of nearby accommodations. The free bikes were helpful. Breakfast was good with excellent service. (This was the only meal we had at the hotel.) Our room was spacious, although it did have a lingering cigarette smell, and the large bed comfortable. The bath towels were huge! We were happy with staying on a higher floor so we could have ocean views. The levels of English vary from employee to employee. Be sure to check a variety of transport services to find the best price. Overall, it suited us for a lovely weekend get-away.

The entire staff was in training uniforms. The staff was unsure about what restaurants and bars were open. We were put in the wrong room and had to change rooms. Once we got to the new room the a/c did not work.

Highly disappointing. Hotel bills itself as 5 star beach resort and it isn't. Upon arrival we were rushed through an outdoor dirty dark hallway to our room. Room was spacious, but worn and slightly dirty, uncomfortable furniture, garish design, and bathroom lacked privacy. Similarly, the beach is disappointing, separated from the hotel by a canal. Same for the food, ok, but not for an establishment that bills itself as 5 star resort. Staff were hit or miss, with some eager to help and some treated us like a nuisance. Oh, and for some reason the hotel doesn't believe in hand soap. We requested hand soap for bathroom in our room and was told that there was none in the hotel - we ended up washing our hands with shampoo. If there was any positive it was the staff member in restaurant who went out of his way to ensure we received customized food we requested, and a driver who was genuinely helpful, friendly, and polite.
