Hotel Golden Crown

Non cooperative staff who was rrying to even ration ours water. It was not worth of the money i paid for. I will not stay there again.

The reception staff were obliging, polite and courteous. However, the housekeeping and maintenance staff were terrible. The wash basins, toilet and shower area were not cleaned for 3 of the 4 days. The overflowing water in the toilet was reported on the first day, but was never repaired for the 4 days we were there. The noise of water dripping kept us awake through the night. The cooling in room 103 never worked although we paid for it as it was advertised with air conditioning and reported on day 1. Three of the 4 days were very warm and the room needed cooling and we could not sleep due to the heat. When we opened the window, a cat came into the room, and also it was noisy from the road below, so we could not open the window either.They refused to repair the air conditioning, and refused to change rooms and refused to refund any money. The rooms are not the size shown in the photos. They are much smaller. There are stray cats in the lounge area. They say they have a roof top restaurant, on the signage outside the hotel, but they do not. This is deceitful. The hotel needs major refurbishment. I would not recommend guests to book this hotel if they want a comfortable stay.

This is an ok budget hotel in the downtown core of Istanbul. It is clean, and their staff members are all awesome. My room was decent-sized, but the window was fake - it did not face the outside, but some some kind of internal wall, so I could not see the street at all, and it was always dark, pretty much like a basement. The elevator is small, and at times it was out of order. Breakfast was decent. Soundproofing was lacking, and I could hear everything on the floor. Bed was comfortable, bathroom was good enough. I would like to thank all members of staff for the welcoming atmosphere.

The hotel is extremely dated and needs a facelift. I felt misled when i arrived and saw the rooms. The beds are entirely too small as well.

A good 3 stars hotel close to Grand Bazar. The breakfast was also very good

The service was fantastic, the rooms were very nice- spacious and very modern- the free breakfast was great. And the location is unbeatable.

Booking was lost however staff quickly arranged alternate accommodation at a hotel close by, paid for the taxi and return in the morning. A bit inconvenient but handled well be the staff. Room smallish but otherwise ok. We had a room at the front which was noisy in till about midnight.

Close to the water....very good English speaking....extra helpful!

Rather cramped for two and sound insulation disappointing so prone to noise. But cleaned every day and fresh linen provided. Hot water good. Breakfast OK but rather monotonous.

I'll start by saying the FREE breakfast was probably the best I've had at any hotel, bar none. Several cheeses, pears, bananas, omelettes with sausage, pastries of bakery quality, everything beautifully arranged. Then there is the location... We walked to the Grand Bazaar, New Mosque, Galata Bridge. Maybe it was the town, maybe it was the hotel, but Istanbul is now one of my favorite cities in the world. I WANT MORE!

The best thing abt this hotel is ies location. Its 2 mins from the tram station n there's a 24 hr convenient store right in front.

Good value for the money and in a great, quiet location!

The place was really easy to get to from the Cemberlitas tram stop, but from there on, everything about the Golden Crown was disappointing. The service was disinterested (if not contemptuous). The room was small and had only been superficially cleaned. I had requested a double bed, and got two tiny twins separated by a night stand. It stank of smoke, and one of the first things I saw was a large insect crawling on my pillow. Breakfast was the most disappointing (cold eggs, bad fruit) that we had in Turkey. Maybe most frustrating was that they advertised a 5-Euro shuttle to the airport, but when we asked about it (the day before), they said, "So sorry, it's full," without acting particularly concerned or offering any suggestions or alternatives. The much cheaper budget hostel where we stayed earlier in our trip was superior in almost every regard. Go with that option if you visit Istanbul.

The front Deck person a woman with red hair forget her name was wonderful.

The hotel is in a great location to the train and the main attractions. The only thing I didn't like about my room was that the room was always pretty hot. Thankfully every night was pretty chilly so we were able to keep the window open to get a breeze.
