Best Western Plus Portage Hotel & Suites

At first we couldn't tell it was our hotel. No name on it. Staff was nice though

The staff was amazing even through our issues getting checked in. The room had trash still in it from the previous guests. It met our needs.

The pool was not in service and was ask about the pool Prior to our stay and waited for us to get there

The clerk that checked me in was very, very rude. There was a guy asking for information, she was very rude and not helpful to him. Next some one called from upstairs asking questions about the room. The clerk literally answered every single question with “I don’t know” 10 x’s. Then it was my turn to check in. She was so focused on her FaceTime call on her personal cell phone, that she couldn’t focus on her job. I will never return to that location.

We were only coming here for one night so our son could go swimming. At no point did anyone tell us that the pool was closed off. And they told us that they were not in a rush to get the pool fixed because it is February, which seems strange, I would imagine people would come more in the winter to use the pool. We checked out immediately and got a room at a different hotel. But the room wasn’t dirty besides one table not being wiped off and being covered in salt.

When you buy a more expensive room you expect better quality I would have been better $75 room across the street. I paid almost $200 for a dirty room

Checking in was very slow. Had to get more things for the pull out bed. We had drove all day and was tired so we didn't go to the pool the same day as check in. We did try to swim later on but was so full couldn't get in. So the sign said opens 7a the next day we got up early and to go swimmimg to find out it don't up til 11a which is check out! How un fair is that when you literally couldn't swim the same day and then next day you couldn't. I had a little one very un happy about it. I think it should be open the next morning to be able to swim especially when you couldn't the same day when it's full! Breakfast was cold and not many options.

Great overall experience

This property is pass terrible. They called us the day of our visit to tell us the pool was closed for our entire Holiday visit. We arrived at 830pm to check in and had No clean towels in our room. They never had anything for breakfast except yougurt when they advertise a full breakfast. The front desk personnel never knew what was going on and we literally had to get a new key every time we left our room. Please take the word Best and Plus out of your title because clearly we living in the wild west. Just call it THE WESTERN. Then its one of the most expensive rooms in the area. The bathroom was leaking and had water stains all down the wall. I want my damn money back. I would've been better off sleeping in a tent. If I could give negative stars I would. Will NEVER BOOK HERE AGAIN and if you thinking you should DON'T!!!!!

Breakfast was not great. No silverware. Nothing to drink. Had to wait 45 minutes for someone to check me in.

The room was a disaster… looked like it was getting renovated well we were in there… but the staff was excellent… breakfast… food was out and the food that was there was ice cold… I wasn’t the place I thought I would get for the money.

The hot tub is out of order, planked over with ply wood and a stop sign. Other parts of the property are not as advertised. Our sink wasn't installed correctly, fixtures are rusting, carpet is sticky. The staff was all very helpful and kind.

Room was unkept upon first glance, toilet paper had been used, the towels were not tidy, and the toilet was pretty dirty.

Had to change rooms, first room was dirty and the bath tub was backing up. Second roomwas not much better but had at least been vacuumed. Pool area had water pouring from the sky lights due to disrepair. Couldnt get out fast enough in the morning.

I selected this hotel, based on the pictures of rooms and pool for kids. Although it was similar to the pictures it had other issues. Throughout the building there were doors that were either broken. Door knobs completely ripped off and door keys that did not work. Also, the back door entrance was not locked and they had exposed wires in that area. The hotel was dark in the hallways and kind of creepy. It seem like this was more for truckers and that’s OK it’s just not for families. Overall, we didn’t feel safe and did not stay as we have small children. I would not come here for a family vacation stay.

Rooms were large, breakfast was good.

Nice hotel Pool was Great

- No shower curtain! Had to dry off bathroom floor with towels due to flood. - No extra bedding sheets and blankets for the sofa-bed. - carpet was filthy and stained. - Sofa-bed mattress had what it looked like a pee or blood spot on the back of it.
