Nice hotel

Overall, really liked the hotel. The staff was very friendly and communicative. The location is very convenient. Close enough to theatres without completely being in the Times Square mix and close to the restaurants on 9th Ave. While the room was nice, it was VERY small with very little space to hang/store clothes and toiletries. I did opt for the cozy room but would still have expected a little bit of space for clothes. Amenities were a little lacking compared to other hotels (e.g., no coffee in rooms or lobby) and the lack of a full shower/door or curtain led to water getting everywhere in the bathroom.

A must for a first time NYC visit! As central as you could be for all the main sites, walking distance from everywhere, lovely staff, and great size rooms !

Great location but the rooms are tiny to the point where you are tripping over luggage. Rooftop was not open during our 3 day stay which was extremely disappointing.

From the moment we checked in, the customer service has been outstanding. The hotel room was nice clean with a lovely view of the Hudson river. The hotel is easy walking distance to Times Square and loads of restaurants and shops on your door step. We tried the restaurant downstairs and the food was very tasty. Also a lovely view from their roof top bar if you fancy a cocktail. The offer complimentary tea and coffee in the mornings. I would highly recommended this hotel and i would happily come back next time I'm in New York

We had an enjoyable stay at the Civilian. The staff team are friendly and helpful. The decor is beautiful. The hotel itself is in a great location. Walk two blocks to 46 st and you’ll find a street full of restaurants. We enjoyed Dim sum palace and Jasmines Caribbean cuisine. But there are streets and streets of places to discover all within walking distance. We had a cosy queen room on the 24th floor, we couldn’t hear the music etc from the roof top bar, the hotel itself was quit quiet. The cosy queen is cosy (small) and there is very very limited storage space, we lived out of the suitcases, which was a little frustrating, but not really a problem. We had two minor hiccups and the staff team rectified straight away. They use WhatsApp to connect with guests, which is great as you usually get a quick response. The roof top bar (starchild) is fun, I enjoyed sitting in the covered area watching the sunset. I would stay at the Civilian again, but I would opt for a bigger room if sharing with another person and be prepared to pay for a daily clean of the room. They did offer a complimentary clean mid way through stay ( day 3) But this was just changing the sheets and providing clean towels. I would give this hotel 7/10.

This place was totally cool and worth the visit.

The front desk staff was exceptional, providing a warm and welcoming experience. The hotel's decor and ambiance were chic and inviting, and the location was ideal. My "cozy" room was pleasantly spacious! The only reason I'm not giving a full five stars is due to an issue with the bathroom design; when showering, the bathroom would flood. There was even a sign and a squeegee provided to help manage the water, but it left my bathroom wet all night, which was a bit inconvenient. Overall, I truly enjoyed my stay! Thank you, Civilian!

Great find in a very central location. The staff are wonderful, very friendly and respond immediately to any queries. Room was clean, chic and well designed for a small trip. No wardrobe and quite small if you have a lot of luggage. Had fabulous brunch with lovely waitress recommending a small portion and then charging so much less. There are several restaurants and a rooftop bar. Felt safe for a solo traveler. Overall quiet for the location. Would definitely stay again.

Loved this hotel, location & amenities. Rooms on the smaller size but plenty of open spaces including accessible cocktail lounge, rooftop bar & great on site restaurant!

Beautiful room and hotel. But extremely small.

Easy distance to all theaters, transportation and good food. Small, but has all the necessities that you need.

The hotel is conveniently located within walking distance from Broadway, subway stations, Rockefeller Plaza, Penn Station, MOMA, and plenty of restaurants. Central Park is not that far either. The room is small, which is not usual for the big city, and every inch of the space is wisely used that one does not feel anything is missing. Indeed there is no coffee/tea in the room, but there is a nice Pret-a-manger 5 minutes away. Also, room service is done every 3 days but if anything is needed in the meanwhile, it will be provided. The bed is very comfy, the towels and toiletries are nice. The staff was very accommodating and friendly. I highly recommend this hotel.

Great support from staff! Very kind and generous people

This is a quaint boutique hotel. Decor is focused on movies and their stars. Staff was nice and accommodating. Rooms are small but adequate.
