I live in Alameda and we've had issues with our apartment bathroom twice since we've lived there and needed to rent a room for convenient showering. I like the Coral Reef because it's local, it's close to everything (it's a small Island), and it has a workable kitchen as well. It was PERFECT for what we needed. And the staff is super nice as well, so that's a plus.

This was a very peaceful place. The room was huge and the workers were pleasant. I would definitely recommend this place to friends. I will also be booking in the future.

I cannot make this up, we checked in and then checked out within 15 minutes. At first I thought the other bad reviews were exaggerated, but when I got here myself it was as bad as they say. The carpets are HEAVILY stained. There is a heavy heavy musky old smell when you first enter your room. Furniture was scratched up and we were missing a drawer. One of the bedside lamp light bulb was out. Everything was very outdated and didn't seem to have been updated since the late 80s/early 90s. I started feeling itchy just sitting on their bed. We immediately booked to another hotel, paid double because we needed to have a good night sleep. We told the front desk that we can't stay here and they didn't even ask why... so I assume this happens quiet often. The only good thing I can say about this place is that it's a really good location as it's right across from a mall that has Marugame Udon and other restaurants and stores like Diaso Japan. But would NOT recommend anybody staying here. Staff was very unfriendly, hotel room was questionable and super outdated, and felt very unsafe if I had to actually stay here overnight.

Keys didn’t work to the room twice and it was a long walk from the lobby to the room - however they finally upgraded the room for the hassle and it was a nice experience in the end

Easy access to beach, dining and other shops. Plenty of parking. Easy access to event we were in town to attend. Carpets need cleaning or replacing. I asked for ground floor but had to climb stairs to 2nd floor. No elevator and I'm a senior with bad knees.

This is just a very old property, so you must have realistic expectations when you book here. The important things were there. Comfortable bed, quiet, and perfect location close to grocery, parks and walking by the bay. There are little upgrades happening, so each room could vary by mattresses, carpet, etc... The complimentary continental breakfast is very convenient.

People were complaining about our dog only barking when someone knocked on the door. Maybe 2 times a day we had someone knock on the door..Our upstairs neighbors sounded like they were playing basketball. Running back and forth. Stomping on the ceiling.

Probably one of the dirtiest places ive ever stayed. Changed rooms immediately...should have left, but i pre paid. There were actually poop stains on the furniture. The health department needs to visit this place. I wanted to add pics but your app wouldnt let me

Walls seem to be very thin; we had noisy neighbors below our room, and their loud voices were easily heard, both before bedtime and at 3:00am. We moved to a different room, which was better, but could still hear noise from the next room. Breakfast is minimal, a continental selection of sweet rolls, coffee, juice, and toast. Price was the drawing factor, way lower than competing hotels on the island. You get what you are willing to pay for, and we knew what to expect (except for the noise in adjacent rooms.

Everything was fine overall, but the room smelled like cigarettes and mold. I liked that there was a full kitchen and a dining table. The bed was comfortable and the room was clean.

The young lady at the front desk seemed miserable and unapproachable. Luis, was great! He worked the breakfast shift on Christmas Eve. The suite I stayed in was very dated. The suite was not cleaned upon my arrival. Arm chair, sofa and coffee table was stained, dirty and old. I had to buy 3 Glade air fresheners to get rid of old smells. I did have a good time here but that front desk worker as I mentioned above was not helpful and needs to be retrained .
