Ramada Tropics Resort & Conf Center by Wyndham Des Moines

First, we got there and had to wait 2 hours for check in bc there was literally no staff. So we went to the bathroom and changed to go to the pool while waiting and the bathroom was so disgusting. The pool area was filthy. The hot tub was Luke warm and the jets didn't work and it smelled so bad. When we finally got a room out was eh. Clean but a weird smell. Beds were uncomfortable but the pillows were actually good. No tub in the bathroom, only a shower. Bathroom door was broken so it wouldn't open back up if you closed it all the way.

Room was fine. I dislike the shower setup with no door. Water spilled everywhere. The check in was an absolute atrocity. It took over an hour to check in and this was AFTER I completed the quick check in process. What is the point of that if it doesn't help? The two employees checking people in were courteous, but as far as appearance I couldn't believe how unprofessional they appeared. One was wearing a beanie hat and Mario Brothers sweatshirt. Really?? That's how you want customers to see your staff? Ramada has been a bust 2 times now in two different locations. Love the concept of the indoor waterpark, but way to packed and overall we will not be coming back unless customer service improves drastically. We ordered a pizza at 5:30 from their restaurant and we didn't receive it until 7:15! The incompetence and lack of leadership was jarring. The entire place needs a huge overhaul. We also didn't have towels to use from the waterpark and I didn't even bother to ask the front desk because I knew they wouldn't be able to assist us. Pool was supposed to open at 9am, we could see lifeguards and other staff scrambling, but it did not open until 9:10. How is this not ready everyday? This could not have been the first time for these employees opening up? Overall again, we are done with Ramada as a whole.

The room we checked in to had a toilet that constantly ran. The bathroom pocket door was wedged open. The front desk was very accommodating to get us moved to a new room

Check in took forever almost 2 hours. Booked a double queen and got double full? Or some really small queens but after two hr check in wasn’t worth the wait. Shower was Luke warm at best. The kids had a blast at the water park though so I guess it’s ok.

Check in took 2 hours and they'd given our room away. Got into a different room with a door that barely latched, a bathroom door that didn't latch at all, stains everywhere, and remnants of birthday streamers taped to the ceiling.

Bathroom door in our room was broke. Asked 3 times for it to be fixed nothing. Ran out of clean towels. No housekeeping service. Elevator went out without an out of order sign placed. Then to top it all off found what looked like black mold under the little kitchen sink. All and all poor experience and absolutely nothing done to make anything right.

We had no hot water and when talked to them they said that we had to have it run for 20 min, which we did and Still no water. I had 6 guest and they made me pay another 15 dollars because they said that the room is only for 5 people. There also was bugs in our bathroom

Kids had a great time swimming . The check on was awful with a huge line. Could’ve been taken care of through email before arriving, could have also let people know they needed a license plate.

Staff was too sleepy and property was extremely dirty

Checked in the front desk person was falling asleep while checking me in( check the camera). Got to my room it had a stench and there was some kind of buzzing sound that lasted all night. We were extremely tired, we laid down and tried to sleep. My daughter started screaming because she swore she saw a big crawling on the bed. We left at 7am and we were all sick as if we picked up something. This was a horrible experience

Our plans changed with car issues, I tried to call and leave a message, no answer. I left a message to management under the contact management icon, letting them know that we may not make it and I wanted to cancel. I got no response. We made it to the hotel very very late to find People smoking pot outside the front door, drinking it smelled like beer people running around in their bathing suits outside. We just turned around and drove on. In my mind this all was a misleading advertisement for a very mismanaged hotel. So disappointing, you should take this hotel off from your site. It makes your name Bad, very, very, very disappointed.

took over an hour to check in because there was only one person behind the counter. we booked a poolside room 290sqft. room and was put in a second floor room with 200sqft. left for the day and came back room keys would not work . once got into the room my colognes were missing assuming housekeeping needed them. on line they state that the pool area is open till 10pm and they close it at 9pm

The rooms need updated but the pool and bar area is great! Nice that there is lifeguards.

Slow untrained front desk staff. Took hour to check in 45 minutes to go back and get a key that worked.. Lied to about check in. The place was rampant with horror stories, even doubting charging. No clean rooms to assign. Surprised Ramada has allowed this to happen. I learned READ REVIEWS!! This has been going on for years.

Staff wa run, hotel was dirty and rundown. Overbooked the hotel so our reservation we made 3 weeks ago they did not have a room for us so we drove 2hrs back home. Th staff were rude and would answer questions with "Not my problem". The hotel is extremely short staffed and waited for an hour in a line that went out the front doors in the cold for an hour to be told they did not have a room for me even though they had my reservation.

The children’s pool was closed the pools we could use one was freezing cold kids couldn’t even swim yet for life were terribly rude. The fool is supposed to open at nine in the morning and I didn’t open it up till 930 goes about 20 kids waiting for the pool. Life cards were terribly rude terribly rude.

We was late to check in about a hour and still waited in line for an hour to get checked in, we got to our suite to find that it had not been cleaned,floor was dirty, no bedding, no towels or toiletries or garbage bags in cans,light bulbs out. The staff was decent and got everything taken care of so finally by 7pm my family we able to get changed and go to the pool. The kids had fun but complained the pools temperature was freezing and crowded. We tried the luke warm hot tub, it wasn't clean and had a lot of hair floating at over in it and the jets didn't.We ended up leaving around 11pm because it was a free for all of kids running all over the hotel slamming doors and caring on. It looks like they are making attempts to up keep the facility beds need attention. They need to hire more staff they are all working hard be stretched thin. The restaurant and pool bar is short staffed as well.

Check in was smooth but it ended there. Two towels in the room for five people and spent the entire stay asking for towels to finally get some on our last day. The pool has some acetylene hazards in the children’s pool of things sticking out of the ground that will hurt your feet if you don’t know they are there and the lifeguards walking around fully clothes doesn’t give any confidence that they will effectively be able to jump in for aid without wasting precious moments getting all the layers off or them being weighted down by the amount of wet clothes they would experience after jumping in. The broken lifeguard devices that they played with was not comforting as well. Dinner was meh, but the staff deserve a gold star for efforts as they were definitely overwhelmed and understaffed. Breakfast … cereal, fruit, and yogurt … we left and were thankful that there was a Perkins close by.
