Red Roof Inn Benton Harbor - St Joseph

It was disgusting, extremely dirty my daughter was barefoot walking around the room no more than 10 mins her feet were black from the dirtiness of the floor. The shower looked super nasty I couldn’t even look at it the mirror where you brush your teeth had stains all over it. My bed comforters had small black hairs. The base board was dirty when you open the drawers they were disgusting and dirty !! And the worst part it’s suppose to be 100% smoke free it smelt so horrible like old cigarette smell. I bough an air fresher to take the smell away because I am pregnant and that isn’t good for me and the smell would not leave. Truly a disgusting experience. If the room was atleast CLEAN. I would not mind anything else. The room looked like it hasn’t been cleaned in weeks.everything that has shelves table it was super dirty I took some pictures as well. I stayed two night and couldn’t get another room because they were all booked. I had no choice but to deal with the dirtiness. I would no recommend this no nobody especially if you have kids.

The online pictures must have been from at least a decade ago. Sadly, we arrived to holes in the wall, yellowed and mismatched bathroom fixtures, mismatched and stained linens (and no alternative available upon request because the on duty front desk person did not have a key to the linen closet and the person who did wouldn’t be in until at least 11pm). Pluses were…The room smelled of bleach, which I assume meant it had been cleaned, the price was low and both people I dealt were very nice. Probably wouldn’t stay there again though. Definitely felt misled by the pictures.

Dangerous area. There were gunshots 200 feet away from the motel! In addition, there was a line of blood drops down the sidewalk next to the hotel buildings. Panhandlers and homeless people coming through the parking lot. The air-conditioning would not go below 76 degrees, and the front was broken. Very disappointed

Horrible place. I booked a non smoking room but the room was a heavy smoking room. Stay away from this property

Room had stains on the blankets and sheets, employee was unable to access the room for clean items. The walls had stains on them, the toilet had urine on the seat

Room was filthy at check in. Splatter on the tv, cobwebs on the bed, walls, and ceiling. Along with dust and mold on the ceiling. There were multiple homeless persons, addicts, and violent persons on the property. To the point we couldn’t leave the room the final evening. Multiple light fixtures did not work. Staff was cordial, but the health department should absolutely check that place out.

Had bugs and was dirty

I wish I could get my money back. The place was duty from parking lot, stairs going to the room. Looked like the windows have not being clean in 20 years. Bunch of flies everywhere n the room. Dried blood stains in sheets. Shower was nasty I felty I could not even step on it. Air vent ls were broken. Old garbage left between furniture. I left and did not stay there. I felt it was not eve safe for me to close my eye and rest. I will never trust u to place a reservation. This gives u a horrible name. How can u do business with places such is this. This places need to be close. Please call me and will give u better explanation of such a nasty place

We walked in unpacked , saw how bad the conditions were and packed back up to leave. Between mold, live roaches, dead roaches and even 1 in the refrigerator . Very costly 5 min stay. Terrible.

Rooms are disgusting! Do not stay here. We ended up checking in, looking in room and leaving! Gross

I reserved through Expedia, and when i got there, they said because I reserved through Expedia and didnt get charged yet, they didnt have to hold my reservation. While in line an older woman was there to complain that the room they walked into after checking in looked like no one cleaned the room prior. She said there was trash everywhere and the room was turned upside down. Kind of glad i didnt get the room i reserved. Plus the receptionist was quite rude and combative. Wont be returning.

This was the worst hotel I have ever stayed at. Asked for a non smoking room and it had burn holes everywhere and stunk like stale cigarettes. The shower did not work. I called the front desk and was told I had to wait until the manager came in at 10 am!! We couldn’t even wash the sand off of us or shower after a long hot day at the beach. Went to check out and talk to the manager and she just said thanks for letting us know your checked out. Not even I’m sorry or anything. The place is not safe!!! The people in the hotel are scary. Do not take your family there.

Place was dirty homeless people outside rust all over the railing. Could not find the office. Felt dangerous. We left. How can red roof even claim this filtly place as their hotel. Still waiting for tefunf

I booked a 2 bed room and requested a first floor. The first unit #137 was in the back of the property and smelled like moldy and musty. The water pressure was a joke (non existent). Horrible. Went to the lobby and told the front desk parsing that the room was unacceptable. Gave me a room on the second floor that was better but still dirty. The is poop on the wall across from the toilet. There was no soap and the Lewis liquid soap made a mess on the sink counter. Happy that i didn't bring my black light to see how dirty the room really was.

Floors were dirty. Sink was clogged when I got in the room. Which someone did come and fix who was respectful. The bed frames were broken and bent. The walls were filthy. Red stuff splattered all over it. The shower had dirt and hair in it

Property in poor condition. Staff tried their best. Too bad owner doesn’t care enough to keep property up. I actually felt sorry for staff having to work there.

cheap hotel for a lot of money.

This was by far the WORST experience I’ve ever had at a hotel booked through Expedia. I would love a full refund either from the Red Roof Inn or Expedia. I did not feel comfortable in the area with so many people standing around outside and the night before I saw the office worker decline someone else looking to get their money back. I just toughed it out waiting for morning. The hotel looks rough and needs a lot of updates on the inside and outside. Our room was unacceptable. The bed had not been made, the floor and all surfaces were filthy. Dead cockroaches were all over the ground and the bathroom. One was found alive on our luggage in the morning. It was DISGUSTING. There was marker writing on our lampshade, the refrigerator was covered in something and had tape in place of a shelf on the inside. This place looked like it hadn’t been cleaned in years. In the morning we saw the “housekeeper” going into one of the rooms. All they had with them were sheets. No other cleaning supplies. I do not have a lot of money so I chose this for the price deal and I have to say I’d rather be more broke and have stayed in a nicer place. I would never stay again and I would implore others to not stay. Only thing that would make me happy is a refund.

Where do I begin… we stepped into our 100% smoke free environment that features cigarette ash covering the floor both headboards. In attempting to clean those off, we watched them fall to the floor where we noticed what I can only guess was the previous tenants sock. Being that we traveled for a few hours since our last stop, I rushed I to the bathroom to use it only to find a cockroach taking laps around the toilet bowl because the water was still running as the toilet float was stuck. To be honest, we were a little jealous considering the inn did not provide the same amenities to its regular guests. We immediately called the front desk to inform them it wasn’t us so we wouldn’t be charged and they quickly assured us they knew, as “they been having issues with that”. While I didn’t expect a complimentary stay, a discount would have been nice. Leaving the first morning, we stumbled over the neighbors takeout delivery they did not finish. While it is understandable it was not yet cleaned up, the fact that it remained nearly 12 hours later when we returned was a bit concerning! The shower had complimentary shampoo but no body wash. We’re guessing it was because the DollarTree towels they invested in were sure to exfoliate any skin that wasn’t cleaned. On the bright side, the poorly cleaned fridge did provide some sort of overflow from whatever fast food containers contents it had. But it was super cold! Overall, I would rate this stay at a 1 out of 10. Do not recommend!
