Shell Island Resort - All Oceanfront Suites

Views are amazing, especially corner rooms. Nice beach. There were no food options on rhe premises. Far from restaurants. Cleanliness could be improved.b

We were able to get a room on the top floor. The suite was clean and newly remodeled. We were so happy with everything and will be coming back next month!

The couch, coffee table and small kitchen table needs replaced...as well as the toilet seats. A kittle improvement woild go a long way. The oich is stained...ugh

Beautiful view, but the walls are so thin, it makes it hard to sleep.

My only complaint was parking. The deck is tight and gets crowded. But this location is great! Go see Shell at the bar! She is so sweet! My Mother is handicapped and cannot make it to the beach. She is not an alcohol drinker, but Shell made sure to keep her lemonade flowing as she sat at a nice umbrella chair/table enjoying the beautiful view! The breakfast was very good! All of the staff was nice and super accommodating!

This property has a lot of unused potential. The location and the views are wonderful. The front lobby appears to have been recently updated. The staff were friendly and helpful. We also enjoyed the indoor pool and outside recreation areas. The indoor pool could also use some freshening, but it was fine. The outdoor seating was nice, and the beach access was easy to use. However, the outdoor hallways and the rooms themselves need work. The resort is composed of outdoor walkways which were worn and needs refreshing. Fixtures were rusty and need repainting. The room itself is best described as “putting lipstick on a pig.” The walls look sloppily painted and the vinyl baseboards were warped and stained. The doors had chipping paint and old knobs that have seen better days. The fixtures in the bathroom had some sort of buildup or moisture residue on them and the tub was stained. We were informed because it’s the off season housekeeping was by request only, which is fine, except before we even got unpacked we realized the floor was gritty throughout the space with sand. During our stay we did not have access to a broom or vacuum and this being a beach front hotel we couldn’t help but to track in even more sand. No dishrags were provided and the provided paper towels were single ply, making it next to impossible to wash the provided dishes. We didn’t use the hangers because of dust buildup. And the orientation of the beds caused light to shine into our eyes all night.

Will be coming back with more family.!

At check in front desk was a bit rude when asked a few questions but overall beautiful place and loved the view.

Always a consistent stay. Great rooms, clean, and friendly staff.

The room was dirty and hadn't been properly cleaned in quite some time. Front desk was polite and offered another room.

Overall ok. Staff did not go above and beyond to make you feel welcomed. The cable was not working in the bedroom and the light in the living room was not working either. There was hair in the newly made bed upon arrival. The people above us were so noisy my daughter could not sleep the first night we were here.

The view from the room was outstanding. We liked the living room area facing the ocean.

The night staff were not very hospitable. The hotel needs some maintenance. The pull out sofa had crumbs on the sheets. When we asked for new sheets we had to come to the lobby to get them and the lady at the front seemed like she did not want to be there. The view and space was great.

Room was a nice size with great view. Bed was plasticky and sheets were scratchy. Although the location and price were good, for an extra $100 I would stay down the street at the Holiday Inn Express next time.

Very nice room with a great view!

First off the room was nice and the view incredible! That being said, when I turned on the shower the smell was horrendous! We couldn’t even take a shower due to the smell. Our whole entire unit smelled like rotten eggs. They offered to flush the system. I felt like it should have been done before we got there!

Beachfront, lots of room.

it was absolutely perfect. I rented it for my parents and they had a marvelous time. They were so accommodating for my elderly parents.

Loved the location and layout of room. However the bedroom backs up to outside hallway and we heard doors slamming and carts all night. No fan in bedroom and AC didn’t seem to work . Warm and stuffy. Room needs more circulation of air. Bathroom fixtures were broken. Room could use some renovation and repair. Disappointing that restaurant hours are not posted on website so we didn’t know it wouldn’t be open for most of our stay. Enjoyed the balcony and view.

This place is always a great place to stay as the staff are very helpful and accomodating. The location is awesome and there is plenty of parking available. The units are well maintained for being an older property and are comfortable and cozy (aka not fancy). The on site food and drink service is spotty at best in that they aren't always open and the restaurant menu is very limited these days. However, there are great local restaurants nearby and you can easily get a lyft or uber ride or have door dash deliver to the lobby. We will definitely be back!
