SureStay Hotel by Best Western Virginia Beach Royal Clipper

The staff were vry friendly and helpful. Location was convenient and close to the beach and boardwalk. The property itself says it is an oceanfront, except we only had a view of a wall. The hotel is non-smoking and they made sure to tell us to not smoke on the premises or in the rooms (we are non smokers) however the front desk area reeked of cigarette smoke and I had to get my children out of there quickly. The 1st room had ants on the headboards and on the bed/pillows. We went to the front desk and notified the front desk and she handed my husband a bottle of raid, then took it back and my husband said we needdd a new room. We went to check another 2 rooms that were not in conditions to sleep in. 1 smelled horrible and the other had a huge puddle next to the AC unit. By the 4th room, we were able to check-in to. Mind you, it was 11 p.m. and with 3 young children, this was extremely inconvenient. The room we stayed in was ok for the rest of our 3 night, with the exception of rock hard beds, mold in the shower glass and the AC would take a while to kick in sometimes. I would not recommend this hotel for families unless you really had no other choice.

Very good Excellent

Staff very pleasant and accommodating. The room was small but clean and updated. This is a very basic motel with a very tiny pool (4 lounge chairs). It is not beach side but is just a short walk. The price was definitely expensive but I do understand that it was a weekend in July so all hotels close to the beach are extremely overpriced. I paid over 700 for 2 nights and felt a little short changed. The included breakfast was a non event, a tiny room filled with families in line for a bagel. Went to a nearby Dunkin. Staff were all very pleasant though, thus the 3.5 out of 5 rating.

The rooms were clean. There was only one outdoor elevator and the wait time was difficult in the heat.

Cockroaches

Check in was nice around 5 pm ish ,I was extremely tired so did not catch her name. The italian woman we can call her was very friendly, enjoyed the professionalism and the quick convo with her.

I liked the breakfast room. Did not like the bed. Toilet tank was leaking

Continental breakfast is poor. Coffee terrible.

There was blood and a dead bug on the sheets front desk was very rude and unhelpful rooms were dark and cramped

We liked everything, we had no issues at all.

Room small, hotel dated, but rooms were updated, comfortable. This is on opposite side of the street from the ocean, and this is why the price is a bit lower. Slow elevator, very small pool, but okay for a short stay. The office is a separate small building in the front lot so this adds a sense of security, in my opinion.

The towels and wash clothes were restocked in a timely manner. The hotel room was very clean.

It was good

It's an ok place in a pinch. No carpets or rugs, which accounts for the noise. Parking spots are tight.

The elevator was not working and they booked us 5th floor. My boyfriend is disabled and it was not easy using the stairs.

Location and everything great, however, this is not a hotel, more like a motel and they had cockroaches walking around outside of the room, terrible and disgusting. Room standards were not as expected, needs more cleanliness overall and proper beds, sheets and accommodation overall. I don't recommend.

We liked that the room was clean. It is an older property with limited amenities. A tiny swimming pool and an extremely loud air conditioner. Even though the check in was slow the staff was very friendly. The breakfast was adequate and the property is in a good location.
