I never write negative reviews because I understand and respect the service industry. However upon arrival at The Washington my experience was subpar. I was initially given a room and upon entering I immediately realized that the bed had not ben made. I simply went to the from desk and told them that the room wasn't ready for me.I was told that the entire building was waiting on linen. I had dinner reservations for 7 and did not get towels till 6:45 pm. I noticed that the a/c was not working and informed the front desk. An engineer came twice both visits were unsuccessful in repairing the unit. I was told that because there wasn't a large demand (other rooms utilizing the a/c), the main unit kept shutting off and would not work to supply just one room. I know for a fact that isn't how HVAC works. I was told "I can recommend that you crack the window". After the whole inconvenience I requested a late check out and was given an hour, that which while showering, housekeeping banged on my door and condesendinly yelled and pointed to their phone, to indicate the time, Overall, the staff was very unprofessional, poorly dressed, the conditions of the room are nowhere how they're advertised. I paid a pretty decent amount for poor service.

I really like this hotel, but they seem to be having some service issues. There were no towels in our room when we arrived. Also, there were some issues with the elevators. Finally, the lighting in the bathroom is awful and we could not close the slide door between the room and bathroom. Not sure if I will stay here again.

Shameful! Avoid this place at all costs! It’s shocking that a hotel like this exists right next to the World Trade Center and is even listed on this platform. Everything was below standard—non-functioning elevators, a dirty room, and zero signs of renovation or care. I was given just one old, worn-out towel. Truly disappointing and unacceptable. Shamefu!

Fantastic location, however the property needs major repairs and updating. It seems the property isn’t ran that well either. We got checked into a room and there were still guests in the room we walked into. Then we get another room and theres no soap or amenities. The main elevator was broken so sharing the service elevator with 30 other floors of guests took forever. Overall it was disappointing but the location was fantastic and it was priced cheaper than surrounding hotels but still pricey at $350/night.

One of the WORST hotels that I have ever stayed at. I think that the lift situation is illegal. I spoke to multiple staff members who said that all lifts have been down for nearly 3 months. It is incredibly dangerous that there is only 1 working service lift to serve the entire building guests and staff. My room smelled of damp and didn't even have any soap. There was a hole in my sheets on my bed. Overall AWFUL experience. Do not stay here.

Great view from hotel room and comfy bed, but none of the guest elevators worked at all and we had to all use the service elevator which sometimes took 20+ minutes and sometimes had to ride up and down with packed housekeeping carts or way too many people. Overall the room could have been significantly cleaner (shower head & shower & overall bathroom did not look properly cleaned), cracks in the walls/ceiling, some stains on the alcove. The staff, other than the super kind and welcoming guy that checked me in, were very standoffish and seemed irritated during every interaction I had with them and would answer my questions poorly so I was still confused afterwards. The concierge also didn’t tell me until when they’d be able to hold my bag downstairs and front desk also didn’t effectively communicate that information, so I returned later that night to pick up my bag to not see a concierge anywhere in sight and have to go upstairs to the lobby to ask about it only to see my bag and all my stuff thrown on the ground in a corner of the lobby with no security insight or anyone present other than the front desk personnel. Thankfully no one intended to steal my belongings but if they had wanted to there was nothing really keeping them from doing so as they couldn’t even hold my stuff behind the counter. I don’t think I’d stay there again nor recommend it, to be honest.

Still no elevator service to floors above reception. You have to take a freight elevator to your floor! No soap, no water cups, no ice bucket in my room.

Worst hotel I’ve ever stayed at. The room had no towels, not even hand towels. No hand soap. Place smelled of Pee, extremely dirty, main elevator did not work and had to use the maintenance elevator. Cool area, building, and views. Couldn’t even shower, and when I requested towels, was told by staff that “everyone in the hotel was looking for some and that they had not received delivery”??

I am shocked and appalled by the status of this hotel. It is clear that no one cares about maintaining it. We tried to spend as little time as possible here. This hotel is in no condition for guests and I believe that I and hotels.com have been scammed. First of all, the black mold in the shower (see photos) is a serious health code violation. I was too scared NOT to wear shower shoes. Next, there are 20+ floors and the guest elevators have apparently been broken for months. Only one of the two service elevators is working. We were joined by garbage bags, dirty mop buckets, and angry staff on every ride. It was nauseating. We ended up having to walk down 11 flights of stairs with our luggage because after waiting for 20 minutes, the elevators were full both times. Cramming as many people as possible into the elevator cannot be safe. Next, there were no shower towels when we arrived. I called and was told they we were waiting for the delivery truck to arrive. How does a hotel not monitor clean towel levels and refresh accordingly? Basic amenities don’t exist here - there was no tissue box, no garbage can in the bathroom, not even a bar of hand soap in this room. The TV kept turning on and off - possibly because it was raining outside and the reception was bad? The hotel was not cheap either - all of this cost $321 on a Saturday in April. I wish I would’ve spent a few extra dollars to stay at a Marriott around the corner. I hope this review saves another person from booking.
