Friendly welcome. Assigned room next to fellow travellers as requested. Wonderful spacious cosy room with luxurious toiletries. Very comfortable and nicely decorated. Reasonably priced evening meal - though small portions were huge! Lovely breakfast, with choice from 3 cooked as well as cereals and toast. Lovely stay.

The hotel was nice and clean with a nice bar area. Our room was small but comfortable and clean. We ate at the restaurant on our first night and we were very disappointed. The meat pie was not home made, there was hardly any steak in it and the steak that was in it was not nice in both texture and flavour. Chips were not hand cut but frozen. My partners salmon and pasta dish was bland. We did give feedback to the waitress after we had eaten and they were disinterested. There are other negative things I could mention but you get the picture. We enjoyed our stay because the room was comfortable and Montgomery was a charming little village but the restaurant food and service was very poor so let down the overall experience.

we were greeted very warmly and immediately had the feelling that nothing would be too much trouble. Not one single member of staff was unhelpful and, in fact, went out of their way to ensure we were happy. The receptionists were all "doing a proper job" but the main receptionist was born to do that job. She was just lovely. The food was an added bonus.

A lovely night’s stay. Arrived late but welcomed immediately, attentive staff in reception and bar. Excellent choice of ale and whisky. Room slightly noisy but comfy bed. Not much room for toiletries in bath, very slippery shower pan with injured foot until I saw the rolled up mat for the second one. Breakfast excellent apart from forgotten teaspoons and butter - great coffee! Overall 9/10

The first single room I was given smelled of drains, I asked to be moved, and was given a bigger room, however, this room smelled of a musty smell which reminded me of wet dogs. The hotel said no dogs were allowed in that room, the smell hit me as I entered the room on a warm day. There was a window in the bathroom that could not be shut, There were things missing you expect in a 4 star hotel, no hair dryer, so I could not wash my hair, no shower cap provided either. The cooked food at breakfast was good, but the buffet left some things to be desired. The chopped fruit was browning, there were a lot of flies around the food, there were net covers over a few things. The coffee on the first day was tepid second day was warmer, and was quite tasteless. Juice, crossants, yoghurt and cereal on offer and fresh unchopped fruit which was fine, You would expect some ham/cheese offering in a 4 star hotel, but this was missing. I ate there one evening and the food was tasty except that the skin of the salmon was left on and soggy in the middle of a pasta dish, it should have been removed before serving. I gave all this feedback to the hotel so it should be no surprise to them. Not a cheap stay, characterful hotel, but it needs decorating, the internal fire doors were scuffed and dirty. Pool was closed for years. Staff were pleasant, but I would not stay again.
