Lovely place, staff really make it. Owners there and gave us great tips on places to visit. Everything we needed for our dog was there, food great, drinks great. Location perfect for visiting lots of south wales. Couldn’t fault it! Would definitely return and have already recommended it to people we met at Usk Castle, which is also well worth a visit!

We have stayed here before several times but this time was really disappointing. We booked an accessible room but on arrival we were told this wasn't available and we were on the first floor. It was fortunate my operation for a knee replacement was postponed or I wouldn't have managed the stairs (no lift). The first floor room was stifling as it was during the ongoing heatwave. No fan provided. We went straight to get a cold drink (having driven 200 miles we were parched). Ordered the drinks - 30 minutes later still no drinks. Chased and they eventually arrived - the manager said they wouldn't be put on the bill. Ordered more drinks. Once again waiting with empty glasses - noticed another couple who ordered after us received their drinks immediately so had to chase AGAIN. And the first drinks were added to the bill so again had to moan. Next morning we were first at breakfast as we had to leave early. We were directed to a table next to a large wooden panel with no window. I requested a window table as it was a lovely day and I am a bit claustrophobic - the waiter refused initially saying the 1st table was set for us. When I protested he slammed the menu onto the table I requested and spoke in an aggressive manner. Breakfast was mediocre. No juice or water offered (in a heatwave). No buffet options. Only 1 other person turned up while we were there so quite unbelievable our request for a window seat was received so negatively. Sadly we will not return now.

This was a delightful gem of a hotel tucked away amongst the green fields just minutes from Usk. Our room was ver comfortable and cosy with lovely furnishings. Don’t be deterred by the motorway as the rooms and pub have double glazing so it is silent inside. Breakfast was cooked to order and included full English. We also had dinner which we enjoyed. The owner and staff were efficient and friendly. We hope to get back! We would certainly recommend it.

Pleasant but draughty room. Could have done with draught excluder for door as wintery condition's blowing in. Mildew on nets slightly off putting. Breakfast quality very good. Evening meals good and hearty. Encountered some very narrow roads to get there. Plenty of car parking. Bit to doggy orientated for us non dog owners.

I work away all over the UK and this has to be one of the best places I’ve stayed in for a while. Accommodation is separate to the restaurant/bar and really quiet. Food and service was fantastic and the owner/manager was really friendly and helpful. Breakfast started at 7:30 which was great as some places this is later. Will be staying here again if I’m working in the area!
