The hotel itself is in a great location, with parking available at city hall just over the road (cheaper than the valet option). The room is an ok size, however, what really made us feel queasy was the cheesy smell as soon as we opened the door (and it persisted). Not sure if it’s from the carpets or the bedding. The room didn’t feel very clean for this reason, or perhaps they allow pets as it gave off that musty/wet dog smell. There were also quite a few hairs in the bathroom. From the lobby, it looks like it’ll be a far nicer experience than it was, but for a two night stay it was fine.

Maybe some frontdesk employees could speak french. 😔 It’s a disaster for your hotel that no one can manage a little bit of french language

Our room was clean and toiletries excellent. The internet signal for the smart tv didn’t work and regular channel selection is very restricted. The buffet breakfast is bad, worst eggs we have ever had. The hotel is under construction, don’t expect any ambience at all. If you are a light sleeper, ask for higher room as you can hear everything from the street and general construction in the area.

I love the Lord Elgin for the location and the history. The room we stayed in was basic but comfortable. The bathroom had been recently upgraded, which was nice. Minor quibble: the carpet at the bottom of the wardrobe had marks that almost looked like paw prints. We enjoyed the stay and will come back. The staff were helpful and friendly.

We’ve stayed at the Lord Nelson many times when visiting our daughter while she was at Carlton University. However this last time wasn’t so great. Our room was right by the elevator so we were kept up throughout the night by loud unruly guests returning to their rooms in the wee hours. Add to this our room had a person letter for another guest left in our room and the bathroom had hair all over the floor making us believe we were in someone else’s room. Not the experience we had grown to expect.

Will be staying again next trip to Ottawa.

The unavoidable construction was a bit of a problem. With that said, the staff was very accommodating in that regard as we were there during the Tulip Festival and it was quite busy.

I enjoyed the history of the hotel and the cleanliness of the hotel. The $45 parking is a bit expensive.

Great location. Rooms are a fairly good size although not as large as shown online and we looked out at air conditioning units so that wasn’t great. But the staff overall were friendly.

Salle de bain petite, certains valets ne sont pas gentils et de plus ils ont modifies mes settings pour mon siege, miroirs etc.

Amazing location! Staff was friendly and helpful. Restaurant was wonderful. Would highly recommend!
