we had an amazing stay at your hotel, we loved the smallness feel and the ease of getting around. The staff were super friendly! We have never stayed at a hotel that offered free snacks and water! That was an added bonus. The pool was clean and we loved hanging out there. We also got an amazing sunset right from our 4th floor. We will be coming back!

We have been returning here for a long weekend each summer for the past few years. The hotel is historic (i.e. old) and is respectably maintained given its age. However, for the rates that are charged the state of the property could and should be better. Furniture fabrics are worn, cleanliness is ok but not great, stained towels and bedding, threadbare robes, etc. Daily housekeeping was late to arrive and minimal. The hotel is rated as a AAA 4 diamond but that was not our experience; more like a 3 star at this point. It could definitely benefit from some cosmetic updating. Bar and 9-10 restaurant are very good for dinner. Location is unbeatable for downtown La Jolla and we hope to return after rooms undergo a much needed renovation.

It’s an excellent choice in LaJolla plus an excellent restaurant. Discreet and quiet. Not a lot of facilities.

The staff at Grande Colonial was ultra friendly and willing to make our stay as comfortable and enjoyable as possible. The hotel was well maintained, clean, and easy access to the beach and restaurants. The only request would be to have more water fountains for guests to fill up their bottles during their stay. There was one water pitcher for everyone's use at the lobby, which was convenient. We enjoyed the use of Cruiser Bikes and the option of electric bikes, as needed. Thank you very much for a very nice week in La Jolla, California.

We stayed for a few nights and loved staying at the property for it’s wonderful staff, terrific location , beautiful views, lovely feeling fireplace in the lobby and the great breakfasts and coffee. The Colonial is an older style hotel. We enjoyed a great comfy bed and pillows and being in the heart of La Jolla near to the beach and contemporary art museum and the shopping. We also enjoyed The bar downstairs which is very entertaining in the evening . Thank you to the Grand Colonial for making our short stay a marvelous one . We will be back !

Very friendly, helpful, free parking and snacks in the room. Our original room was a little loud as deliveries were being made in the morning and they switched our room immediately. Also have items for the beach (umbrellas, chairs, etc.). Would definite go back ! Restaurant was excellent as well as was the location.

Very nice, well preserved old style hotel near everything on La Jolla Cove. Great staff. Oceanview rooms, but not right on water. Highly recommend!

Other than the fact that there was a noise I could hear, it was a very nice, traditional hotel--very comfortable andwith an excellent dining room.

Excellent and beautiful historical property in a great location. We were a bit surprised by the quality and level of service at this lovely boutique hotel, as we would have expected better. Notably regarding responsiveness, follow thru and attitude, mostly at the front desk from what we could tell. Also, they announce up front that they are a pet free hotel, yet we saw dogs in the lobby and even in their upscale restaurant indoors. Otherwise, a wonderful place to stay.

Parking in La Jolla is challenging at best, especially on a holiday weekend. The valet staff at the hotel was top notch, but there is a ridiculous number of spaces blocked off by some of the most popular restaurants and you are forced to pay $20.00 for the valet parking that have commanded those spaces. It is a real rip-off by La Jolla. Also not enough handicap spaces available.
