I stayed for 4 nights in the Royal Superior room. Charming and vintage hotel, but definitely, not a 5 star one. It is overpriced for what it offers. Breakfast was good, but repetitive. The location was excellent, although there is noise from the nearby restaurants and night clubs. A noise canceling set of headphones will be very helpful at night. FYI: A 1000 kr deposit will be held on arrival for the minibar.

Hotel Royal is a lovely mixture of old and new. Our room was huge and comfortable, but beware the corner rooms can get a lot of noise from pub visitors, cars, and church bells. The bathroom was also huge and had a nice variety of amenities, although I would’ve liked a washcloth or make up removers. The entire staff is wonderful. Christian Sindensen, in particular, was a gem. His dinner recommendations were so very good! The hotel is in a great location for shopping, eating really well, and seeing the sights. It was a wonderful stay!

Beautiful historic hotel, perfect location.

Wonderful, classically designed hotel with the oldest working elevator in northern Europe. I felt like I was in a Bond movie. Breakfast served in the Queen’s Garden is exceptional, underneath a beautiful chandelier. Excellent touches with homemade jams, nut butters, and a variety of juices. Extremely comfortable bed. The hotel is in the center close to everything. The staff were exceptionally friendly and helpful.

The hotel was beautiful, old world style. The staff were all wonderfully helpful, knowledgeable and friendly. Loved the unique old elevator. The bathroom in the room needed deep cleaning and updates. The tub water was either scalding or very warm, no other temperatures. The tile grout was mildewed. The drain between 2 sinks flooded the room if too much water was run (once from washing my face and once from trying to cool bathtub water) with a cup. The bed was comfortable. Lighting very difficult to figure out. We turned off the switch and they would turn off and then back on. We sent out clothes with the laundry (expensive like all of Scandinavia) and they did not come back until 8;30 at night. We loved the people, but not our best hotel stay.

Une chance que j’étais seule dans une très petite chambre annoncée pour deux personnes. Rangement quasi inexistant et aucun support à valise. La seule place pour la mettre était à terre dans le petit espace de l’autre côté du lit. Je m’attendais à plus pour un hôtel de ce calibre et qui a des tarifs élevés. Pour accéder à ma chambre, il y avait cinq marches, pas facile avec une valise. Par contre, l’hôtel est très bien situé, la chambre était propre, c’était tranquille et le petit déjeuner était très bien.
