I cannot recall leaving a review before however, our experience was one I do not wish to repeat. We booked a suite. It really was not worth the money. Tired, shabby & with air conditioning that sounded like a struggling car engine. The bed however was very comfortable but overpriced. The receptionists on both days were lovely & very welcoming. Breakfast was terrible, by 9.20am pastries had ran out, no water & they got our order wrong. When it was finally served the toast wasn’t toasted, it was lukewarm cheap warm bread. The scrambled eggs were like rubber. The full English breakfast was inedible. The mushroom was like the sole of an old shoe, the bacon was as hard as a shatterproof ruler. Need I go on? It was rather interesting to overhear from the other side of the ‘restaurant’ that it was like being in Fawlty Towers and I have to agree, it was!! We expressed our concerns to the manager about the breakfast and rather than waiting another 30 mins to have a replacement (yes, it took that long to be served) we just wanted to leave. We’ve never left a hotel so early to go home. This is a hotel that appears thrives on tourists and coach tours. For the couple that want a lovely time away we found so many more places within yards that we could not believe we opted for this hotel. Gutted.

Shame, cool old building but pretty poor staff, pretty poor upkeep-window fell off the hinges, terrible breakfast. Probably wouldn't return sadly as we stay in Woodstock often.

We had an goid stay at Macdonald Bear Hotel. The staff were excellent throughout, friendly, welcoming and very helpful. Our room was a good size and the location is fantastic, especially for exploring Woodstock and Blenheim Palace. Breakfast was ok, decent options but limited buffet. The room itself was a little dated and it wasn’t the quietest stay, mainly due to some very loud air con, even though it was turned off but sounded like rushing water. Overall a pleasant experience thanks to the great service and convenient location.

I liked our room and the drinks were reasonable, breakfast was excellent and worth the little wait as the hotel seemed full but it was All cooked fresh to order, my eggs were perfect too! And the bacon crispy as I asked. Coffee filtered with warm milk was good and refills were plentiful.. All in all really good value family run kind of hotel

Generally a decent place to stay. Check in was a bit shambolic, my pet hate is being charged £5 for parking when you are paying £200 for bed and breakfast, this should be included in the room price. Didn’t eat our evening meal in the hotel but recommend the small brazzeri opposite. Breakfast was ok. The room was clean and tidy but we had to go down to reception to ask for some milk to use the tea making facilities, which we were given in a tea pot?? Strange when there is a fridge in the room.

Room 23 was very noisy with the Aircon/ refrigerator machine outside. It's a great hotel, I've stayed more than a few times but avoid this room if you're a light sleeper

We recently stayed at this hotel and needed a double room and a twin room. Both rooms were lovely and warm on a cold say which was very welcome. We were very happy with the stay and decided to have breakfast. It is served until 11am but when we arrived at 10am, there were very little bread/baked options and all the fruit had gone and had not been replenished. Parking is available but is at the rear of the hotel which we didn't realise until we'd parked on the road but no problem just moved our car around the back.

Room was great - quirky features primarily due to age of building. Parking fine. Check in good - Melissa very helpful. Michael helpful with baggage to room. Jose friendly in bar. Breakfast fine, service could have been smoother as could communication. Overall enjoyable stay.

Amazing room on the top floor,it was huge with a seperate living room. The view was not great but that didnt bother us as we were there to visit Blenheim Palace. Good breakfast and friendly staff. Parking is restricted so arrive early.

Lovely old coaching inn with loads of character. Obviously very popular for that reason. However the Bed was absolutely terrible, two singles that did their best to separate. Base sides of bed showing a lot of wear. Need serious replacement of bed. Bedding immaculate though. Lovely pillows. Breakfast was very poor. Firstly, out of smoked salmon! Onto Full English, the poached egg was cold and very hard boiled. Deep fried "scone" or flatbread, just don't bother!. Beans cold, toast on poor quality loaf and had to be asked for, not offered. Butter was borderline stale or just "off". Shame the breakfast let's down a lovely hotel. Will NOT be BACK. Come on manager, get a grip!
