Very nice hotel lovely grounds and a great spa Only thing I would add is they closed the bar at 10.30 pm when they say closes at 11pm which some guests were not happy about. But would still return and stay again.

The room was very nice and clean, however the overall hotel does need a bit of TLC, but overall a good hotel to stay up for business purposes

We loved our stay and couldn't fault it. It's a bit tired in places and could do with a coat of paint.

The bathroom was covered in mould/ spores where the tiles had not been cleaned. I was so disappointed. I never noticed this until the following morning of my visit and I have taken several pictures. This can affect your health in many ways.

Lovely stay, really quite stay for work

I’ve stayed here twice and the reviews would be the same. Lovely building, nice spacious rooms with comfy bed, friendly staff, good amenities. The reasons that stop this hotel getting an excellent rating are: Each time I sat in the outside terrace area most tables were full of dirty dishes and glasses. There are not enough signs around the hotel to guide you. I went to wrong room to eat dinner and breakfast. I opened a store cupboard as it was next to the corridor entry door. The food at dinner took too long to arrive and needs some help with presentation. I ordered the fish cake that looked and tasted just like a supermarket option. It was overpriced.

The bed was very uncomfortable!!! It dipped in the middle so it was quite difficult to lie flat. The balcony only had one seat on it but, as we couldn’t get the door open anyway, that wasn’t a problem. I didn’t take a shower cap with me as I expected the hotel to provide a selection of toiletries. It didn’t. The shower head was a bit loose and out of my reach and, at one point, it was actually pointing at the wall with most of the water running down the wall. We definitely would not return and would not recommend the hotel to anyone.

Although the stay started off quite badly with unfortunately a few issues, after having a conversation with the manager, all my concerns were addressed. In fact, the manager went out of his way to resolve things and I congratulate him for that. The staff generally were a mixture of inexperienced and helpful. An example being a couple of problems at breakfast, however with the evening meal ( which was for a special occasion), the restaurant manager in particular was extremely helpful and knowledgeable and totally transformed our stay from being quite mediocre to a lovely stay. It is worth mentioning that the quality of the food was excellent and the recommendation from the restaurant manager, spot on ! The suite that we had was very comfortable and although maybe in need of some redecoration in areas, it was a nice place to stay. On this occasion, we didn’t use the Spa so won’t comment on that. The final question being would I stay there again and I think the answer is a definite yes, overall we enjoyed our stay in a lovely hotel in a nice comfortable room.

Very friendly staff, family room was excellent with lots of space. Perfect for a small family. The room was lovely and clean, with plenty of towels.

The swimming pool is out of order at the moment. was not notified of this when booking only a couple of days before I arrived. I was allocated room 56. Make sure you don’t get this room unless there is a heatwave. It was so cold that I had to ask to be moved during the night. The radiator does not appear to work in the room. I stayed for 3 nights, two of which had road closures outside the hotel . On the Sunday the road was closed from 7 am to 1 pm so could not leave unless you walked - and this hotel is some way out of the centre of Chester. Again I was not notified when booking. Staff ( other than the night porter and staff at breakfast) seemed entirely disinterested. No one actually apologised. I was offered another stay in the future, free of charge, but quite frankly I have no intention of ever returning

The hotel was clean and well-presented, but we only found out on arrival that the pool would be unavailable for the whole of our stay. All we received was a voucher for one free drink. The room was clean, but there were stains on the floor and wallpaper was peeling. The bathroom was clean and tidy with a really good shower and good sized bath, however the water pressure meant it would have taken an hour to fill the bath. Overall we had a lovely stay but the quality wasn't great. There was a very good buffet breakfast which we enjoyed and would recommend.

Arrived at the hotel to be told the Spa was closed with no contact from hotel beforehand. Had to battle for 45 mins to get a partial refund. A huge waste of time, very frustrating and will never return there again!

The hotel was clean and an okay stay. Very dated property. The food is very expensive for what you get.

Nice place. Pool was a bit cold, but you could swim in it fine. There was no standard plug next to the bed (just a weird old fashioned non standard 3 pin plug for the lamp) so I couldn't plug in the CPAP machine I need. We asked reception for an extension and they didn't have any, so we had to go out and buy one. Otherwise the pace was good.
