This is one of our favorite half-way stops on our way down to Cape Town. Wildernis is a quant little town with world-class restaurants and The Wildernis Hotel is such a great place to stay. Lovely pool, padel, tennis and mini-golf facilities. Excellent breakfasts! And very, very friendly staff.

Good value, good location, somewhat aged. Pros: Easy parking, seamless check-in, lovely staff, excellent sauna experience, delicious breakfast. Cons: A lot of stairs (not disabled friendly if you're disabled), our room was dark, the bedside lamps didn't work, a shortage of plug outlets for electronic devices, and the hotel could use a modernisation, though it is perfectly good and clean despite showing its age.

We booked an 84m2 suite with a king sized bed. It was the night before a 21km run, and sleeping well was critical. We receive two tiny adjoining rooms with a double bed. I am too tall for a double bed as my feet hang off the bottom and cannot sleep on a double, which is why we paid extra for the king bed which we did not receive.

There was no hot water in the shower and the staff didn't care .

The staff couldn’t do enough for us. Hotel looked very tired and past its best.

I was quite often in Wilderness and looked at this wonderful hotel. Now I‘ve stayed here and I really enjoyed it. There is only one little - point. My bed in room no. 166 is a little bit too short for my length, but I slept really good. Friendly staff, good breakfast and a fair price = good value for the money

The search and booking I submitted was for Wilderness resort in Wisconsin United States. The “quick” response from this location, still hasn’t hapoened

The rooms were a bit dated. The key cards stopped working and had to be reprogrammed every day which was annoying. My sister didn’t have hot water for 6 out of the 7 days we stayed and reception promised to resolve it but didn’t. My sister asked for her room not to be cleaned as she didn’t want her stuff being moved around but they cleaned 6 out of the 7 days even though they were reminded every day. Bit of a shame really that the promises made weren’t honoured

Avoid if possible. Needs investment also staff training. A positive is that it’s a good location and has a pleasant pool

My business and I use this Hotel at least 2 - 3 nights a month. The Hotel is generally great and staff friendly except this time. It is unreal how one person can make such a difference, and will contribute to your business decisions going forward. I made the mistake of asking for 2 rooms to be processed through one transaction and the utter bad attitude and generally reprehensible behaviour received from Olivia at the front desk was a true reflection of an individual that should not be in Hospitality!!! Unfortunate that one individual can ruin an otherwise great experience and ensure no future business to the hotel.

Service was excellent and common spaces are very smart and well-maintained. The room itself was a little tired and in need of some paint. In my aunt's room (103) the shower drain was blocked.

Although the hotel does need work, I found the hotel clean and comfortable. The room air conditioning was excellent as was the wifi, shower and bedding. They serve an excellent buffet breakfast.

Old hotel that is a little outdated - no elevators - making moving luggage a challenge. There was a plant around the property that gave off a bad musty smell during this time of year. Noticed the smell in other areas around Wilderness, so it may have not been addressable. Breakfast was great, pool was nice. Wish it had a hot tub.

The hotel is run down and dirty. We moved rooms due to the mould caked in our aircon. There cockroaches in the room. The general areas are filthy. We used to absolutely love this hotel it was under previous management. I cant see it going on for much longer without a serious revamp. The hotel needs a manager to better oversea how it is run. So disappointing. We will not be back
