Courteous staff

The room was very clean and comfortable. The staff were friendly and efficient and the location of the hotel was excellent for walking around Canterbury. However, our room (215) looked out onto what looked like a junkyard next to a pub and we could hear a lot of noise from people standing outside the pub until very late at night.

Staff were very friendly and accommodating. Food was lovely. Room was clean and comfortable although bed was too soft.

Everything was excellent except for the temperature in our room was very cold at first. Luckily the thermostat enabled us to get it warmer within a couple of hours

Beautiful old converted building with stunning Tudor details inside. Quiet rooms, despite being right in the busy shopping area. Welcoming and friendly staff, and a modern and well presented room. Breakfast was lovely; good selection of food to choose from.

Air con didn’t work and it was minus degrees, noisy neighbour and hotel didn’t help. However, this was a blip as I stay here regular

Abode Canterbury was in very central position to everything we needed Nice warm comfortable room but felt overheated during night as no window to open, tried aircon but that wasnt working well ! I’m not sure if our room had dogs but my husband woke up with 3 bites and his legs and I itched all round my ankles throughout the night ? Our room was 221 …. Parking for the two nights was £50 !! Which is so expensive and the lady at reception I felt was rude as I asked what bars and restaurants were near and she said there are spoons either end of the high street !! I don’t mind a Wetherspoons but how rude to think that is the only place I would like !! I do like an ivy restuarant also which was located nearby ! So maybe someone with a bit more

The man on reception was very helpful and ensured I was well looked after.

We stayed in Canterbury for a little over a week, and ABode was the perfect place to stay. The staff were all gracious and helpful; the room was exactly what we needed; we were close to the cathedral as well as the shops and restaurants. The Christmas dinner was delicious, and there was so much of it! We also loved the breakfasts every morning. Highly recommend.

Not a brilliant stay all round. The room was cold and the heated towel rail was off, so the bathroom was cold too. There is no hot water to have a shower. At breakfast, we asked for a second coffee but none appeared. In actuality, I had asked for breakfast in our room on account of it being our wedding anniversary, but there was no acknowledgement of that at all.

Arrived Christmas Eve 2025 for a two night stay Given room 116 on check in at 3pm room was as expected and left for family meal out at 3.30pm On returning to room that evening could hear a dog yelping whining first thought it may coming from outside During night time sleep and waking in morning could hear dog again Spoke to maid in corridor and she confirmed there was a dog in next room went to reception and they Also confirmed a dog was in Nextdoor room On booking this hotel did not realize that dogs could be staying in hotel Saying how dissatisfied and unhappy with hearing the dog I requested a change of room the response from reception was we are fully booked and that they do allow dogs in rooms Whilst angry and deciding what to do now on Christmas Day of all days to be disappointed with the abode hotel the receptionist found me in lobby and they had an alternative room which was a relief This new room was fine and resolved the issue However it has left a bad impression of the abode in Canterbury

Lovely staff, great location. Room very cold, window rattled a lot which prevented sleeping well.
