Room very nice, clean and comfortable. Almost all staff were kind, helpful and considerate. Great location by river and right on hadrians wall path hence full of people walking the wall.

We thought there swimming leisure facilities. Didn't realise dogs were allowed in rooms heard them in the morning a few rooms up frightened when passed them in the corridor.Breakfast was excellent, but the main fish was on the small size for evening meal. Garden and bridge location was lovely.

Positive: - The hotel is at a beautiful location, next to a small river and directly on the Hadrian‘s Wall path. - The hotel is dog-friendly (when you are a dog lover), so be aware when you have pet-allergies. - It is very dependent which staff member you are dealing with, some are friendly with a great customer orientation, some have an attitude….. Negative: - the bathroom sink was full with water: plug was stuck. Reported this at the reception so in the evening we discovered the room was skipped for cleaning and the water still there. - staff leaves the masterkeys at the outside of the (closed) door of the room they are working in, so don‘t leave any valuables in your room when you are out. - The hotel is dog-friendly (when you are not a dog lover)

Our room was lovely and had modern conveniences, but it was quite an adventure getting there. Why would a floor have rooms numbered in the 100s and in the 300? And so many fire doors and short ups and downs. On the plus side, the breakfast buffet had the largest selection we have seen, with plenty of fresh fruit and lovely pastries in addition to everything you might wish in a full English breakfast. And the grounds were lovely.

On the Wall. Lovely location near the river with outside seating areas. Lots of comfortable seating inside. Room was spacious. Mix up with both the table booking and food order in the restaurant.

The George Hotel is a wonderful place and one that I will remember well. It's near to Hadrian's Wall and many other old Roman sites to explore. The George Hotel has a charm that countryside adventurers will love. Hikers from the wall come and go and share their stories. That bridge and the river provide a scene that you will remember. Although there is no lift, we found out that the room was easily accessible from the upper parking spaces. Staff was super friendly. The food was excellent and just what you would want after a long day exploring. Try the local beers! I definitely recommend.

The hotel in general was poor quality with restaurant staff removing dishes from tables while peoole were still eating paint peeling off radiators and wallpaper coming away at the joins had to change rooms because one of the mattresses was none existant as when lying on it felt like lying on the bed base and the room we were given had very poor standards of decoration but at least the bed was good and clean. The hotel itself is in need of a total revamp wont be staying again and will warn friends etc not to which is a shame because the hotel setting was great.when checking out the recepionist was chewing gum or something didnt seem interested and didnt even ask if we had enjoyed our stay but the chap who was in reception when we arrived was first class and a credit to the hotel

The room was spacious and had a lovely view of the river and gardens,The receptionist on our arrival was very friendly and informative, giving us some useful advice about the area, that we acted upon. We only stayed one night here and we booked an evening meal as well as breakfast. The room was nicely decorated and had a large comfy bed with pillows that were soft and fresh. Our evening meal was enjoyable but we had to wait a while to get our food and drink order as there was some inexperienced staff serving at the tables. The wine served was of good quality, but unfortunately it was poured into thick basic wine glasses which was disappointing and ruined the experience. Unfortunately Breakfast was a let-down to say the least, basically as we had to make the most of what remained available. Even though we arrived for our breakfast half an hour before service finished, the coffee machine had over-heated and we had to make drinks with instant coffee, although we had no cups or mugs to use. Similarly, there were no breakfast plates or cereal bowls when we approached the buffet. We were met with the comment 'we are short-staffed this morning', no apologies were received during our time in the breakfast area. Plus there was no or little fresh juices, as well as the milk dispenser was near the bottom level and had to be tipped to get a few dribbles. Overall this was very disappointing and made our experience more of a chore than a pleasure. We expect better from Bespoke Hotels.

It seemed to me that the public areas of the hotel were where any money has been spent - the restaurant, especially, was lovely - especially with it's river view. :However, for the amount I paid for the room, I expected more - it was basic. I may not be their demographically ideal customer but there were no extras with the room - no toiletries, no minibar (even just to chill drinks etc or provide bottle water). The small television, with no smart facilities, is particularly outdated.

Could have done with aircon as the radiator kept turning on auto and it was a little hot to sleep. Very nice hotel though, good staff and food/drink. We had a nice stay and would stay again.
