This was, I think, my fifth time staying at Hotel 717, and every visit feels special. I have stayed in a different room each time, and this time I was on the main floor, which I loved because we were so close to the wonderful people who look after us, especially Giorgio and Patrick :) This stay, my daughter Lauren and I travelled from Canada to Amsterdam to meet our dear friends, another mother and daughter who flew in from Vienna. The four of us were there to see Harry Styles, and Hotel 717 became our beautiful home away from home. The location is perfect, close to so many lovely parts of Amsterdam (including the MOCO Museum, Jordaan and De Pijp neighbourhoods), while still feeling peaceful and welcoming upon return. One morning, because of jet lag, Lauren and I woke up at 05:00 and decided to walk to nearby Vondelpark. As we left, it wasn’t even 06:00 yet, and there was Giorgio arriving to begin his shift. It was such a sweet moment and somehow captured the feeling of the whole stay. We feel like we have known him for years. The rooms are beautiful and comfortable, the beds are extremely comfortable, and I highly recommend breakfast in their gorgeous breakfast room. Each morning, Giorgio spoiled us with many kopje koffies while we had a chance to chat with other travellers. Hotel 717 is charming, elegant, comfortable, and close to everything. We love it so much and are always reminded why we keep coming back.

Additionally, during our first full day in Amsterdam, we left the hotel around 9:45 a.m. and returned around 3:00 p.m. to prepare for an evening event. We found that our room had not been serviced at all — no housekeeping, no fresh towels, and no room refresh. When we contacted the front desk, we were told that checkout rooms were being prioritized. While we understand hotels have operational challenges, the response lacked urgency and there was no immediate apology or acknowledgment of the inconvenience. To be fair, we did receive an apology the following day along with a complimentary box of chocolates, which was appreciated. The majority of the front desk team was friendly and welcoming, and the breakfast and coffee service staff provided pleasant hospitality. However, the condition of the room and the housekeeping concerns significantly impacted our stay. We contacted hotel management afterward to share our experience and concerns, but unfortunately did not receive a resolution. As first-time visitors to Amsterdam, we were excited for a memorable stay, but based on our experience, we feel future guests should be aware that the reality of the accommodations may not align with the expectations created by the hotel’s presentation online.

This is a great option for families with two kids. The bunk bed set was great for our kids and allowed them to shut the door to have the darkness when we were up. The room was very comfortable. This location is excellent to walk almost any where. The staff was lovely and we enjoyed leaving about Amsterdam from them.

What a stellar and beautiful hotel experience we had last week! The rooms were beautifully appointed & the bathroom was as nice as a Ritz Carlton. I highly recommend Hotel 717. The staff was completely focused on making sure every detail was perfection. We would definitely stay there again. There are less than 25 rooms in this 400 year old hotel, so I would book early if you are hoping to be in the prime location (museum & Anne Frank house are both within a 15 minute walk). Giorgio was an incredible host & we would give us 10 stars if we could.

One of the best hotels we have stayed Anywhere in Europe. The staff were amazing as were the rooms. They were very helpful with everything we needed or asked for. The accommodations were roomy and very comfortable. If traveling to Amsterdam, I highly recommend Hotel 717 !!!

All the staff were so friendly and hospitable, but Patrick deserves a stand out mention for pulling all the stops!!

Loved the stay and hospitality at hotel 717

All the staff were friendly and knowledgeable of the neighbourhood. No elevator but staff took our suitcases both up and down from our 3rd floor room. Great breakfast room with good food and coffee. Would not stay here again because of room size. We had to take turns opening our suitcases because lack of room. For 1 person maybe fine but not suitable for 2 people. Check room size carefully when booking. Overall good experience.

A lovely hotel in the perfect location (with a great burger and coffee shop across the road). Sadly this was overshadowed by being put in room 23 which is easily the worst room in the hotel. Room 23 has thin windows (hear anyone say outside), literally one step from the dining room (breakfast starts at 7:30 and you will hear any and all plates) and if that wasn’t bad enough the other wall is a communal bathroom! I was woken up both mornings of my stay to plates and when I asked to move they couldn’t/ wouldn’t. Steps are crazy steep also so take it slow! My friends who didn’t have room 23 and actually got an uninterrupted nights sleep loved it obviously. Also be careful with what you leave out as I had a joint and a lighter in a bag that was sadly binned by the cleaner.

Everything about Hotel 717 was amazing. The hotel was so clean and what stood out to me the most was the kind service that they offered. I really felt like royalty staying there. The amenities they offered made me feel so welcomed! As a first time traveler to Amsterdam, I can say that my trip was amazing because I stayed at Hotel717. I will gladly return back. If I could rate it 100000/10 I would! 5 stars!

Charming lovely hotel with excellent service and great location. Breakfast was delicious and served in an elegant gorgeous salon. Located only a 10 minute walk from major museums and a one block walk to the tram, this is the best place to stay in Amsterdam in our opinion. We would love to come back some day.
