I booked this hotel based on its claim to be a four-star property, with air conditioning, hardwood floors, and a clean, comfortable stay. What I got was the opposite. The room was much smaller than advertised, with no working A/C ("off until summer") and a sealed window—no airflow. As someone with asthma, I couldn’t breathe. The room was dusty, stale, and full of old, fabric-heavy furniture that hadn’t been deep cleaned in years. I spent the night walking outside because I physically couldn’t stay in the room. Staff acted bothered when I asked for a sheet. The next day, they moved me to a cleaner room, but it still smelled like thrift store air and off-gassing drapes. When I asked for a refund for the remaining nights, they refused. This hotel is part of a larger chain, and their refusal to refund even one night shows a complete lack of care. This is not a four-star hotel—it’s a dusty two-star coasting on outdated “charm” and misleading listings.

Great rooms in a great location. Breakfast buffet is fantastic. Hotel location might be more convenient than those inside the Ringstrasse since it is right next to a metro station and can be at Stephenplatz in 5 minutes, along with easy access to other close in parts of Vienna on foot or tram.

Lovely hotel with clean, newly decorated spacious rooms. Great breakfast, wonderful staff! Within easy walking distance to all the wonderful sights Vienna has to offer! Would highly recommend this fabulous hotel!

It's a very nice hotel near the U line so it was easy to get from the train station or continue on to the old town. The hotel and room was very clean. The staff was polite and professional.

I love the staff theyre nice and warm and friendly. The breakfast was great me and my family loves it. The room was spacious and i love the ceilings are high and there are picturesor wall displays that are so wonderful. We will recommend this hotel to our family and friends in new york city and Philippines. We will come back!

The front desk people were very nice. The subway from the train station was dropped me off a 1/4 block from the hotel. That same subway took right into the city center. Great location! I would stay here again!

Excellent stay at Johann Strass hotel, staff were very helpful and friendly. Very clean and well maintained. Great position, walking distance to city mall and all the tours, plus plenty of eateries to choose from.

This hotel is excellent in so many ways; spotlessly clean, superb breakfast, friendly and efficient staff, quiet, close to subway, etc. Highly recommended
