Resort was beautiful and clean. The entertainment and entertainment staff were excellent. Kenddell in particular was awesome! He made us laugh everyday and amazed us with his ability to remember and connect with people. He truly made our stay exceptional.

This could be a beautiful resort but… with the sewer smell it was hard to do anything. We felt like prisoners in our room. The beach is closed, and you can only enjoy the pool until the smell gets to be too much. To top it all off, our room had red ants and nothing they could do about it. This place needs a lot of work, do a lot of research before choosing this place.

Absolutely loved all the shows and activities that were available at this resort. Super fun and entertaining! The staff were all very kind and provided excellent service. The only negatives to the resort was the beach and the food. The beach was full of algae which they spent time cleaning from day until night. This algae did cause a significant scent across the whole resort. Definitely not the resorts fault and it was mentioned as a seasonal issue. With this, the beach itself was not bright blue beautiful waters. The pool was clean, spacious and nice though! Overall, I would say it was a good experience and we had a fun time with the all inclusive nature of the resort!

The entertainment and staff went above and beyond to make our experience amazing, especially Kenddell— he brought the energy every day and made our group feel so very welcomed and special. We loved our stay!

Let me start by saying this isnt a perfect resort. There were small things involving condition and maintenance. But overall we loved this resort! We didn't do the Privilege option, but we always felt privileged. Never had an issue getting into the specialty restaurants (we went early as walk ins) and we always treated with friendliness and a desire to make sure we had what we needed. In our opinion, the good was great! The grounds were clean and there appeared to be plenty of staff. Our room needed some TLC, but we loved it. HUGE bathroom and shower and the fridge was stocked daily just as we asked it to be. The pool and beach areas were very well kept - though the moss was unfortunately an issue during our trip. We plan to miss the moss if possible and return to this lovely resort again in the future!

Beautiful, yet small resort

This resort offers a quiet vacation environment. The pool area includes a shallow section suitable for sitting in the water, and there are many pool loungers on the pool ledge. However, it may be challenging to find a pool chair after 10am. The spa is well-maintained, and the staff are both friendly and knowledgeable. Specific staff members, including Alfredo, Gricelda, and Lupe, provided attentive service. Although the staff are very helpful, the smaller size of the resort means that food options are limited. Those with simple eating preferences might find themselves eating the same meals daily. Despite this, the restaurant staff are wonderful and the food quality is good. The buffet provides a variety of options, and the sports bar stands out for its excellent service. The bar features multiple screens showing NHL and NBA playoffs, and the food is delicious. Alfredo, our butler and concierge, greatly enhanced our stay. His meticulous attention to detail and dedication to ensuring all our needs were met was exceptional.

Ocean Maya Royale was truly an incredible experience. The hotel met all of our needs, but it was the staff that made the experience unforgettable. Kenddell, our FABULOUS activities instructor came to work each day with so much joy and energy. He made sure to connect with guests on an individual level and, despite the thousands of people he must meet, he remembered my group of friends during our entire stay and made us feel so special. I have never seen an employee get an entire pool to participate in water aerobics, but Kenddell did and it was so so much fun. His professionalism, humor, and dedication to this job was unmatched. He also made us bracelets to remember him by, accompanied us to Coco Bongo and ensured our safe return back to the resort, and still performed all of his duties with ease. He truly is a gem that makes Ocean Maya what it is. Margarita was also wonderful and helped us plan a beautiful catamaran excursion. She was always a friendly face around the resort and greeted us on a daily basis. We will never forget her spirit and kindness. Oscar, the Coco Bongo coordinator, was so funny, helpful, and considerate. He kept us laughing on a daily basis and made sure we had the best time on our night out. I cannot speak highly enough about the staff of this hotel, they are all truly incredible human beings. As for the hotel itself, the property was clean and pleasant. My only complaint was the food!

Property was beautiful but the beaches with zargazo and the smell of it was very disappointed.

The staff was welcoming and so helpful! Everything we needed was on the resort. They had transportation options to travel off the resort too. They offered a great variety of food options. Everything was great!

The food was amazing!

The resort and room was very clean and activities staff always made for an enjoyable day. Food was very good as well. The only negative was that my brother’s toilet constantly had issues even though they didn’t put down any paper as instructed. I strongly suggest that during check-in, customer service people make clients aware that toilet paper is not to be placed in the toilets as we have never stayed in a Mexican all inclusive where that was an issue - and we have stayed at several over the years. We have experienced it in other countries, but not Mexico.

The whole reservation system for restaurants needs to done better

Truly loved my experience here. Staff was great. I was confused on our package we had. Staff said we were the privileged status but it turned out we really weren’t once we tried to enter certain areas at the resort. But overall, a wonderful time and experience

The staff is amazing! Loved the engagement team and their energy. The event programming is diverse and entertaining --from live music to foam parties. The food is also good and they have a diverse menu. It's a pretty location on a mostly private beach area. The cons -- 1) there is no onsite club or nightime hangout place to dance. You need to go out to Playa del Carmen for that. 2) unfortunately the amount of sargassum (seaweed) made it impossible to enjoy the beach. The fishy rotten smell is noticeable. I know this is something out of the hotel's control, and I saw the efforts to clean and keep it under control. However, I would have liked to know the state of it prior to booking. The hotel also makes you sign a waiver about the seaweed.
