Unfortunately, my experience at this resort has been quite disappointing. The property is poorly maintained, and the photos on their website are clearly outdated. I’ve never been to a beach resort where the pool is the preferred over the beach. The beach was filled with seaweed. The beach was nearly empty throughout the three days I was here.
Service has also been underwhelming, with the exception of Carlos at the Preferred pool area, who was courteous and attentive.
Having stayed at several Dreams Resorts in the Cancun area, I can confidently say this is by far the worst one. As an Expedia VIP, I was not acknowledged at check-in and received none of the benefits I was entitled to. On my 2nd day, I went to the Barefoot Grill at 4:37 p.m. to request a hotdog. Wendy told me the grill was closed—even though it doesn’t close until 5 p.m. Only after I reminded her of the posted hours did she serve me. The food overall was disappointing and not on par with the quality I’ve experienced at other Dreams properties. However, I’ll say Bordeaux was good and it is the best restaurant onsite. The rooms were outdated and need of upgrades. My smoke detector flashed continuously throughout the night, and when I reported it, I was told it was “normal.” Try sleeping with a flashing light in your room all night.
I was also told by Victor that I’d receive a welcome amenity and a birthday sash for my door, which I never received. If you’re considering this resort, be prepared for lower quality.
