Such a beautiful hidden gem. This is now my favourite place. Loved the atmosphere the rooms were modern yet vintage. Loved the no tv. Sadly they will not be open for the next two years. But when the renovations are done we will be there!!!!

First off, the Hotel Selkirk is not modern as it is built to depict a bygone era prior to fridges and TVs. So these are not available in the rooms but a modern one cup coffee maker is, which is a departure from the overall pioneer ambiance. It is located within Fort Edmonton Park and very close to the Capitol Theater where we watch 'West Side Story' on the Friday evening. Dinner and breakfast were very tasty and the price comparative to other local dining establishments. The staff members were very friendly which contributed greatly to the awesome experience. My only regret is that Fort Edmonton Park will be undergoing renovations over the next two years, so we will not be able to stay at my beloved hotel Selkirk for at least that many years. The cost of the room is rather expensive but that does include the gate admission to the park. Unfortunately due to the damp, cool and windy weather we did not explore as much of the park as what we had hoped to do. This stay will however remain a fond memory of our summer of 2018.

One-of-a-kind hotel located within Fort Edmonton, the city's living history museum (1800's - 1920's). Recreation of actual hotel from city's 1920's past, but with essential modern comforts. Best-kept secret: room rate includes park admission. Park adjacent to hotel, explore the extensive and interactive attraction, dine in the hotel, then have the park to yourself after hours -- delightful. Wake up the next morning, have breakfast, then step back into the past. We hated to return to the 21st Century. Hotel's river valley location makes it a convenient point of departure for the city's many attractions (10 minute drive to West Edmonton Mall, for example). Rates were competitive.

We had a amazing time at the Selkirk Hotel and Fort Edmonton Park. For me it is always stepping back in time to an era of a simpler life style.

We had an very enjoyable stay at the Hotel Selkirk. The staff was phenomenal and the hotel was very clean. We were able to walk about the grounds in the evening and enjoy a more personal experience at the park. The amusement park brought back memories for me, it was so exciting to ride the ferris wheel and reflect on my childhood days. I would recommend spending a weekend in the park at Hotel Selkirk to all my friends and acquaintances.

The hotel is basic but clean and functional. The room we had was very spacious and street-side which is the best side. When there's no wedding on, it is very quiet at night, but as this seems to serve a lot of wedding guests, be prepared to have a lot of noise - take earplugs. The breakfast service is extremely slow. Our party had to wait over an hour for everyone to be served their food. If not at a wedding, I would go elsewhere in Edmonton as there are better value hotels with better service. But it's a good choice if you are at a wedding there as it's the only hotel in walking distance.

After some trouble actually finding the hotel, I arrived about 6 PM. Parking lot was, shall I say, "1920's, but it didn't bother me. Check-in was friendly and courteous. No issues. After check-in, I walked around the park a bit, but all buildings were closed by this time of day. I had a beer in the Mahogany Room. Now that's a bar! I then had dinner at Johnson's café in the Hotel - good food, good service, no issues. At this time of year there are few guest so I pretty much had the whole place to myself. That suited me fine, as I don't care for crowds. The room was very clean and comfortable. Washroom was a bit small but entirely adequate and spotless. No TV - but remember, it's 1920's. I took in an old time movie (Some Like It Hot) at the Capitol Theater next door to the Hotel. Theater is beautifully restored. Had a very quiet and restful sleep. There's no road noise at all, as the hotel is located in the river valley away from the hustle and bustle. There is no nearby shopping malls, and that's just great with me.

Lovely 1920's, European style hotel in the Historic Fort Edmonton Park. Very basic continental breakfast. Quiet, we got good nights' sleep.

The hotel was absolutely charming. The bed was comfortable and the staff were so fantastic. After a wonderful dinner in the restaurant we had the entire Ft Edmonton park to walk around by ourselves. We will be making this an annual event!

We enjoyed our stay at the hotel very much, however, our meal at the Johnson Cafe, which is the hotel restaurant, was very disappointing. The service was so bad that it almost became a comedy of errors. The staff had very little knowledge of the menu items and they served me the WORST martini I have ever tasted...I actually couldn't even drink it! The food was acceptable but very overpriced. The breakfast that was included with the room was lacking in variety and quantity. On the positive side, it was really nice to have the after hours access to the park. We enjoyed some lovely & quiet evening walks.

We stayed at the Hotel Selkirk to celebrate our first anniversary. What we especially liked about this hotel is its location - right in Fort Edmonton. Admission was included in the price which was a great value. We thoroughly enjoyed our time exploring Fort Edmonton and the hotel was very quaint, clean and comfortable. We hope to make coming here for our anniversaries a tradition.

I chose this hotel because I'm a history buff and I thought the quiet location away from freeways and shopping areas sounded perfect. There are no TVs in the rooms & wi fi is patchy, so be prepared. Only disappointment was that the continental breakfast ended at 10 am. The Johnson Cafe (inside the hotel) then started serving from its regular menu which looked to be more dinner-like with entrees like salmon & beef. I was able to have a sandwich & a piece of homemade pie at the Jasper House Cafe which more than up for the breakfast disappointment!

Everything about the hotel was excellent. I'm just trying to figure out what an extra $33.40 charge to my credit card is for, and trying to investigate the "price match" thing because my friends got the same stay for cheaper.
