Great staff Lift too an Age to come and go. Shame breakfast is not included

Genuinely one of the worst hotels I've ever stayed in. If it was £90 I wouldn't have complained, but £160 for one night for something that is less well looked after than my nans care home is ridiculous

A good location to train and ferry. Not a hotel with a view however. Comfortable though small room. Good breakfast.

Staff were lovely. Room was a decent size, comfortable & clean. However, Strathmore Hotels (parent company) could really do with investing more in their hotels. Carpets in the rooms, corridors & stairs were very worn. Curtains had tears in them. Bathroom tiles were cracked (although, no dirt in the cracks. So, again, very clean). The place is looking very haggard. Other than that, a lovely stay & staff are doing well with what they've got.

The room was clean and comfortable - perhaps a tad hot 🔥 however the weather was particularly nice when I visited - reception staff were polite and efficient - close to all amenities

Only stayed one night as I was passing through Oban. Staff were nice, Breakfast was good and the room was clean. The hotel itself needs some TLC, carpets becoming worn and there was an obvious leak in the roof, as the top floor corridor had a strategically placed bucket and patch on the ceiling.

Lovely dog friendly hotel (extra £10 per dog) with a small car park at the rear.

The hotel is generally rather tired, but that is reflected in the price. Staff were friendly and helpful, the food was good and the room adequate. For the price that I paid for an en-suite room it represented good value for money

Clean room… staff was helpful. Walls are a bit thin… so yiu can definitely hear your neighbors!

We stayed here for two nights in a Classic Twin Room in April 2026. The biggest positives were the excellent location and the staff, particularly reception and housekeeping, who were genuinely lovely and very helpful throughout our stay. However, the hotel itself feels very tired and dated, with a sense of faded grandeur. Carpets throughout the corridors, public areas, and staircases were heavily worn in places. A major concern was the spiral-style staircase. The steps are extremely narrow on one side, yet the bannister is positioned on that narrowest side rather than the wider side where support is most needed. This made the stairs feel quite dangerous, especially when carrying luggage. We also heard several other guests complaining about this. The lift was also extremely small and very slow for such a large hotel. The bathrooms were clean and fairly modern, although basic and not especially well finished. Bedrooms were clean but dated, and the TV was tiny by modern standards. Drinks in the lounge/bar area were also surprisingly expensive. One particularly worrying incident involved a friend staying in another room becoming trapped for a long while inside the bathroom after the door handle completely fell off late at night. As he has epilepsy, this was especially frightening and highlighted concerns around maintenance and safety. Overall, the hotel has great staff and a fantastic central location, but it now feels in real need of refurbishment and improved maintenance.

Hotel really needs an update. The website implies one has already happened unfortunately it hasn’t. On the positive - parking is convenient and staff is nice.

Really cool old hotel. Don’t expect a Marriott, this is a genuine old Scottish hotel with tons of character and charm. The staff were excellent, providing good local advice and a great breakfast. Everything is in walking distance.

Stayed in a single room for 1 night and was very happy with the room. A lot more spacious than I anticipated. The bathroom looked new/renovated and worked well. Single bed was comfortable for the night. Staff were super friendly when checking in and out. Close to the train station (2 min walk) which was perfect for the purpose of my stay.

Room was clean. Lots of choice for Breakfast and good quality
