Beautiful

Besutiful older, but well maintained property. Location, location, location. Could not beat it. Staff extremely happy, kind and helpful. Had a problem which was well dealt with by staff. Highly recommend, well worth it.

What a great find! This place has an amazing view of Mt. Etna. Castelmola is a charming medieval town. Definitely worth a visit. The staff were very helpful and friendly. The breakfast was very good. The room was spacious but I could not get the air conditioning to work.

We had trouble locating our hotel in Taormina and a staff member at Sonia helped us with a cab driver. We had planned to stay one night at the Hotel Sonia but next time we will stay there every night.

Hotel Sonia is set in a stunning setting clinging to the side of a mountain overlooking Mt Etna. She is beautiful but in need of an update and more care around the property. It is clean, the staff helpful and courteous, the rooms ok, breakfast is great, bar service ok, and the village it is in is definitely worth the detour.

We travelled to Villa Sonia as a couple in our mid-30s for 6 days in early April, staying B&B in a Superior Room (Room 410). Location Centrally located in Castelmola, with shops and bars a 5-minute walk away—plenty to do nearby for relaxed days. The walk to Taormina took around 30 minutes down and 35 back up. We’re moderately fit and it was ~20°C, but the uphill stretch could be tough in hotter months. There’s a bus stop nearby (we didn’t use it), and a taxi from Taormina sea area cost €40. We rented a car and used the secure car park (€7/day). Staff The standout of our trip—every reception staff member was kind, approachable, and gave great recommendations with detailed maps. Breakfast staff were also friendly and attentive. Cleanliness Rooms were cleaned daily to a high standard. All areas, including the pool and breakfast space, were consistently spotless. Facilities The hotel has a charming feel. Our room had an incredible view of Mt Etna, a huge balcony, and a very comfortable bed. No kettle initially, but one was provided same day on request. The pool area was lovely to relax in, though too cold to swim in April. Pool bar closed off-season, but drinks/snacks available in the lobby. Food & Drink Breakfast was good, with a small but varied selection—special mention to the apple cake. We only had dinner once, but food, wine, and service were all great and well priced. Very good value. We would return in a heartbeat!!

Friendly and helpful staff, wonderful beds, large rooms, amazing views from balcony. Great breakfast. Shuttle service into Taormina a big plus. Really happy to have stayed here.

Clean and spacious room with fabulous view from the balcony. Shower was tiny and very dated. Lots of plumbing noises through the night disturbed our sleep. Breakfast decent with lots of fresh cake but the scrambled egg was watery and unappealing and many basic items such as bread often ran low and we had to ask to be replenished. Juice was awful. Lovely pool area with amazing view. Castelmola is lovely and the bus to Taormina stops directly outside the hotel. Overall a good stay.

The staff was so very helpful - before and during our stay. They were very hard working too. The hotel is quaint and comfortable and our rooms had absolutely stunning views of Mount Etna! I would highly recommend this hotel!

Clean room. Staff friendly and helpful. 15mins drive out from Taormina centre but there are bus once an hour.

Most wonderful experience we were treated to an upgraded room to celebrate our 40 years of marriage. We highly suggest adding this breath taking experience the most perfect stay

High up a mountain with crazy roads. We reserved a lesser room by mistake. The other units with a view looked spectacular! Good breakfast and great pool.
