It was ok. Pleasant & helpful staff & good location

Overnight stay, disappointed to find out we had to pay an extra £10 to park our car because we hadn’t booked directly with the Hotel but apart from that an enjoyable experience. The breakfast options were exceptional, there was something for everyone and plenty of it, well done

Lovely quiet hotel, 10 minutes walk from York Minster. Staff were very helpful and friendly. A great room, very nicely decorated, would definitely use again. Only slight complaint is the full English breakfast was over cooked.

Its a great hotel in a fantastic location, 5 mins walk from the York minster. Staff are so friendly and welcoming and can't do enough to help you. Room was on the top floor, very comfortable and lovely bright decor. . Parking on site is also a big bonus. Breakfast was delicious and plentyful. Thankyou to all the great team.

A fabulous independent hotel in a great location close to the Minster and city walls. The staff members are delightful - they couldn’t be more helpful and friendly. Our room was spacious and comfortable. Breakfast is very good with lots of choices.

Charged £10 per day for parking upon arrival when ppl who book direct got it free, and they wouldnt refund! Pros Staff, distance from city, breakfast Cons Paying £150 per night then getting charged for parking - very greedy and not considerate to customers Room very basic and dated Wifi poor Travelled around UK in business over the years and personally wouldnt recommend as the price in no way merits what you pay for

Hotel was excellent, rooms spotless and every member of staff really excellent and welcoming

I booked this place for its available parking, proximity to the minister, and high review score. It appears to be an old building that has been repurposed as a hotel. We stayed on the ground floor, where the room felt quite damp. The main issue was the bedding and linens, which were of poor quality, and there was a noticeable musty odor. On a positive note, the staff were very friendly and welcoming.

Spotlessly clean and in great location for the Minster, the Shambles etc. Would definitely recommend it.

The room was on the 2nd floor, probably last in the plumbing line considering the temperature of the hot water. TV had electricity however, consistently failed on programs as the signal was not strong enough. Constant interference with sound and display leaving it unwatchable. Hotel refused to acknowledge issues. In terms of sustainability, they do not clean or replace sheets or towels daily although they consistently deliver toilet rolls and room sundries outside your door in a plastic bag. Seems they could use their imagination on how deliver them more sustainably. The linen change and no service refers to covid and how they changed it then and they think guests prefer it. I don't mind reduced housekeeping but the messaging is out of date, much like their management service. Assume they do it to save money and not the planet. Wouldn't recommend!

We enjoyed our stay with a wonderful breakfast and helpful staff, we loved the location of the hotel very near the center of town. We would highly recommend this hotel for visiting York

Lovely hotel, friendly staff. Close to city centre. Lovely choice of breakfast. We were at the back of the hotel, which was good, front would have been very noisy as its a busy road. Private parking so we didn't need to worry. Would stay here again.

Staff very friendly hotel in great location

Laura is the best!! We arrived after a long journey and on arriving in our room there was a terrible smell from the bathroom. It was so strong you could smell it from out the room - We put the exttractor on and opened the windows and thought we’d go for a walk and see if it had gone when we got back. Mentioned it to Laura at reception on our way out and she immediately said they only had one more room available so she’d rather change is straight away than wait until we got back from our walk in case the room went. So we swapped and the next room was so much better. Laura did go to investigate and by the next day we could tell the smell was no longer detectable from outside the room. Laura also gave me some great recommendations for where to visit in York. To be fair - all the staff we lovely - the breakfast team were very efficient and friendly. The hotel was in a great location - 5 minute walk to York Minster and the walls you can walk around, or you can walk down to the river in a similar time. I would definitely consider staying here again if we come back to York.

Very close to all the attractions- parking on site ideal.

Person staying next door tv volume very loud, went out & left TV on. Maybe he didnt know how loud it was, or had no respect for others? Only negative, and not Hotels fault. Would recommend as excellent position for Theatre Royal, and choice of restaurants.
