Small thing but my door key was very sensitive and lost its link. I was in the Mews building and a long way from the main reception area to get it fixed. Next time I will ensure I am given two keys

Friendly and helpful staff. Daytime bar service with several staff members was a bit slow but evening with just one young lady was spot on. Very nice breakfast.

Myself and a colleague stayed overnight with business. Firstly, you need a map. When you drive on site it's not clear where reception is. Main reception is NOT in the castle type building, it's further up. We went to the wrong place. The lady did check me in, but it was a poor experience including being asked to pay even though I'd prepaid - I also didn't get asked to leave a debit card and had problems later charging food and drink. The bar asked me to go to reception and put my card behind, I went and they said they couldn't take it, so I went back to the bar and eventually had to make a seperate payment. The biggest problem was the room. Room 10 in the 'Mews' which is like a conference / meeting room building. There was nothing wrong with the room per say, clean and well made, however.... the room is at the end of the corridor and clearly backs on to some sort of staff / maintenance entry. There was zero care when opening and closing this door by staff at 4.10am and 5.20am and the noise was so loud it woke me with shock. All in all, it was not a De Vere experience. When I went to hand my keycard in, they didn't even ask me how my stay was - there was a lack of care. Main building as a venue, beautiful, grounds stunning - top quality main building - the Mews not so much and let down by the service.

Out if this works for mother & daughter 40th birthday short escape; We took the junior suite option in the mansion house for its very modern take on retro aristocratic old-money England as we wanted to also relive family connections with that era. It so suited the Elgar we listened to in the room as we quaffed excellent champagne. So Downton Abbey & Brideshead Revisted . Just what we needed & more than we hoped for. The super king sized beds & superior cotton sheets were a decided part of the luxury

Really lovely old hotel, with a wonderful history if you’re interested in spy’s and the world wars. Food and decoration is great and the luxury wash products make everything smell wonderful. Open kitchen, a breakfast that’s worth the whole stay. The roads in are difficult if you don’t usually drive single tracks so opt to go in and out towards Milton Keynes as they are slightly easier to navigate or better for expensive cars and wheels. Check your route first as it was about 2 miles of single track roads. Well worth the stay swimming pool was brilliantly maintained and very clean. Sauna and spa were set at a good temperature and again very clean.

Booked at short notice. We've been here before. Room was in the Mews where they don't have a lift. Room turned out to be very small and quite cold. Towel rail not working. Breakfast good but coffee machines not working. But it is convenient for us. So we'll return

We initially had a 2 night stay in a suite that overlooked the countryside but added an extra night where we stayed in a Delux room. Both rooms were clean and tidy and the beds were very comfortable. The only thing that i could identify in both rooms as being a bit tired was the wooden bath sides both if which were blown and could have done with being replaced. The main restaurant was spacious and modern. Breakfast offered a full range of products that satisfied all appetites. There was a swimming pool on site which unfortunately we could not use due to us being to busy. All in all a lovely hotel in an excellent location.

Very poorly lit night time signage made arrival and checkin difficult. Room comfortable but small.Restaurant service non existent, and service charge apllication is a joke.

I got the Basic room, so I did not have high expectations. However, the room was cold, and the central heating didn't work. The hotel provided me with portable heating for the night, which worked well. Breakfast is excellent. The bathroom needs renovation.

Only thing a bit frustrating was I grabbed my drinks for breakfast and when I got back from collecting my cooked breakfast they had been cleared away by the wait staff Extra points to the receptionist though for ordering me a taxi
