The hotel over-sold, one of our two booked rooms being unavailable. We had zero communication before arriving to the hotel; when we arrived and dropped our bags off; and only found out upon returning late at night. It was the Prague marathon and the bank holiday, so other hotels were fully booked (plus, Hotel Liberty had charged a premium). Hotel Liberty staff were painfully slow to support and, then upon realising the situation was quite dire, made a meagre attempt to call a number of neighbouring hotels, subsequently providing us with inaccurate advice on what was available and not. Indeed, the delay caused here compounded our issues, as many hotels were unable provide room at that late. I had to spend a significant amount of money on the phone to Expedia, and hours - I finally retired at 4:30am, about four hours after this issue was shared with us - on Expedia's useless chat service. It was then on us to spend close to £700 to book another hotel room. For completeness, Expedia did then refund the room that was unavailable and, despite suggestions to the contrary on the chat, the difference of the new room, as well as some nominal compensation through their credit system. However, I remain shocked and appalled that Hotel Liberty's owner, despite suggestions that they would, has not in anyway reached out to apologise, nor was available during the issue.
The hotel otherwise is centrally located, dated and would not be a place of choice had it not been for "availability".
