Everything was perfect! Everyone was very friendly from the moment we arrived until we left. We had a wonderful time. Braian, Armando, Roberto, Enrique, and Luis were always attentive to our needs. The food was delicious, and the restaurants were great, too. Thanks to Mahekal Beach Resort for making our stay the best.

The good: there is a nice beach and several nice pools on the property. The staff you meet around the resort are polite and helpful (outside of the registration office). The bad: Expedia sold us a room that the resort doesn’t have (room with 2 king beds). This meant the normal double queen room they gave us was smaller and more uncomfortable for our family than expected. The people at registration said it wasn’t their fault and did nothing to help compensate us, even though they were in the off season and had lots of rooms open. We also chose to go with the All Inclusive, however, at this resort only a fraction of the things offered are All Inclusive! I asked the concierge to pick up a menu from the restaurant and point to the items I could order, and he wasn’t able to do it. If he couldn’t figure out what I paid for, how are we supposed to know? You have to sign a receipt for every meal and drink you order, and tips seem expected. The water to our side of the resort was in and out (mostly out) for 3 days. No showers, no flushing the toilet, no updates from the resort on progress, and again, no compensation for our troubles. When checking out, they make you wait while someone checks the room to make sure they can’t charge you for the water from the mini bar (yes, not covered by all inclusive) and the coffee pods by the coffee maker (you get one coffee pod a day, more than one costs EXTRA!).

The property is so relaxing. Highly recommend this place to relax and enjoy time on the beach. No T.V. if your expectation is to watch TV and TBH its not needed with the local shops and restaurants. This place is small and beautiful and the opposite of a huge resort- if you're looking for large resort with over a 100 rooms- this is not your place. Small and personal with beautiful beach vibes.

This is a really lovely hotel and we had a great relaxing holiday. The staff are all so nice and really helpful. The pools are lovely and the food is also good which isn’t always the case with all inclusive. The only issue was that there were water problems in the town and water was cut out for a good few hours on 2 of the days. Obviously this is not the fault of the hotel but they handled badly by not telling people and having them à heads up. There were no toilets for 4 hours and if they had been more proactive then people could make alternative plans. Other than that I would go back anytime!

Wish we could have stayed longer! A little bit of paradise in the very busy Playa Del Carmen. The staff are excellent. Would absolutely stay again!

Property was clean and well Kept, staff was amazing and the beach was next level

This was one of the most disappointing resort experiences we’ve had. The property is beautiful, but our stay was overshadowed by constant problems. We had to move rooms twice because of serious maintenance and cleanliness issues. Our first room had roaches, large gaps around the front door that allowed geckos inside, poor water pressure, and other maintenance problems. After being moved, the air conditioning completely failed, leaving us without AC overnight in the Riviera Maya heat until another room could be arranged. We spent more time packing, unpacking, meeting with management, and waiting on maintenance than enjoying our vacation. Even the common areas were disappointing, with animals wandering through the breakfast area while guests were eating. Management acknowledged our experience was unacceptable, apologized, and approved a $600 refund, which I signed for before checkout. Weeks later, I still have not received the refund. I was also told the document I signed meant I couldn’t discuss my experience with other guests, yet I was never given a copy of what I signed. Problems can happen anywhere, but failing to honor a promised refund and leaving guests without answers is unacceptable. Until the resort follows through on what was promised, I cannot recommend staying here.

Beautiful hotel located close to downtown.

The staff is amazing they helping out with everything you need. We come back because this place is beautiful, Unfortunately the menus are different now, they cut a lot of options for lunch and the breakfast is the same everyday. I wish they back on the same menus from 2 years ago. The place is beautiful but they can do better improving the rooms. Drinks are delicious.

Great location, I loved that you can opt out of the all inclusive. Great staff all of them were nice and friendly. Just understand that if you are not in the all inclusive plan, menu options are limited.

Everything was wonderful. The only down fall was the water pressure in the shower.

Amazing hotel right by the beach. They also had a coffee shop in the hotel and their gym and day activities were so fun. They had merengue classes, water aerobics, Pilates, yoga, and so many other activities throughout the resort. Their spa was amazing too, we got facials and massages and the staff were so nice. Definitely recommend, great location!!

Fuego restaurant needs a better selection of cuisines, possibly even different cuts of meat(seafood/poultry/beef). The food lacked flavoring and the right consistency.

We love the property. Feeling like you are staying in a tree house is so awesome. Sadly they are not maintaining. We have been here several times and will not return. The seaweed was horrible as well…

Please beware of the "Resort Fees" I had to pay an additional amount and according to them it was resort fees, environmental fees, and service fee. At first I thought it was okay but then I remembered that is not what was on my Expedia paper and when I asked for more explanation they said I didn't pay it. Upon check out I noticed all those fees were already detailed in what I had paid through Expedia. The hotel was also a bit dirty. Chairs in one of the lounges were dirty. Cocina restaurant was closed and we were not aware until after we checked in. Should be told when booking. One pool was also closed for a private event for one of the days. I think this information should be communicated when booked. The resort should reach out to the guest who book. Pools were not cleaned daily and there was bugs and leaves on the pool. Pool chairs had dirty pillows. Jacuzzi does not work. Jets worked but water was not warm at all. LOTS of mosquitos not the resorts fault but beware. Some staff were friendly but the manager who I spoke to about the fees was a little heated.
