Nice kind of quaint older style hotel with a large guest relaxing lounge on the first floor BUT lots of steps up and down depending on your room location. Older potential guests should discuss this with the hotel before booking. Initially booked in a room with a couple of foul-mouthed noisy lads next door and door open. Made an early decision to ask for relocation which was arranged and ended up with a quiet room as we had lots of ground to cover the next day. Breakfast was good and all staff friendly and helpful. Parking more than adequate. Ended up an excellent stay.

We have stayed here before and it is convenient for the area. Sadly they lack the amenities- no microwave, fridge, or safe. All the beds are twins and not overly comfortable. They were cleaning the gutters while we were there and the machine was loud and started early in morning making it impossible to sleep. The staff was wonderful and the rooms were clean. They also held our bags for two days while we were somewhere else until we came back.

Near train station, bus stops outside, town centre nearby, Staff good, no real ale in bar otherwise catering good.

No charge for parking was a plus. Would've benefited from having bottles of water to make tea in the room. Cups were a decent size. Staff were amenable. Beds were comfortable. Appreciate that extra pillows were available in the room.

We loved this area’s beauty but we wished the hotel had had the convenience of a lift for our luggage.

Staff professional, welcoming, efficient, calm and knowledgeable. Good food. Well-served. Kindly.

Nice grounds and bar - a bit labyrinthine

Perfect for what we wanted for a 1 night stay on the way to Goodwood Festival Of Speed, room a bit dated but clean and tidy, staff were great, all-around decent hotel 👍

Definitely in need of some TLC. Could hardly see through bedroom window as so dirty, the view was of a flat roof, no attention paid to keep it nice, whole area needed repainting & a plant pot or two would have been a nicer view. Behind my bathroom sink was thick with dust, burn holes in the carpet & communal areas look very tired with dusty silk or plastic plants! Cheap room, good place for workmans rest but not somewhere to stay to enjoy ambience. I’m guessing it was once a grand old hotel now it’s just an old hotel.

Welcome at the reception was good great customer service explained our room ,breakfast hall, and friendly staff.We had a pleasant stay.

Terrible mattress

Apart from the hottest night which made it difficult to sleep we could not fault anything made welcome including the dog. Dinner was good breakfast good thank you

Clean. Friendly staff. Pretty basic, but very well priced, so I consider it a good value.

Just a one night stop over after getting off the ferry at 10.00pm. Friendly welcome, lots of parking and a big comfortable room with a bath was just what I needed. Bar was open and again the staff were great. Good choice at breakfast and good, attentive staff. Easy, comfortable and great value stay.

Just a one night stay as we were passing through so did not use the hotel facilities but our room was very comfortable and spacious

Lovely hotel in the centre of town. Very convenient with free parking and a short stroll into town.

The rooms desperately need a renovation.

Friendly staff and good value evening meal

We had a nice stay pity it was only 1night, had a meal and drinks in the evening our waitress was Amy-Louise she was especially good she was running the bar, serving tables and taking orders she was amazing very busy We definitely will be back.
